Born in Spanish Town,Jamaica and given the name Barrington Bennett, at the age of six Barrington's parents moved to kingston where he attended Vauvhall Secondary School.
This was where Barrington's interest in music began and he got the nick name Bembeh.
He played congo and bongo drums in the school's annual pantomine.
After leaving school in 1971, Bembeh moved back to Spanish Town
where he enter local talent shows. This led him to The Wright Brothers Band. He developed his skills as a singer and Mc for the band.

Over the next five years Bembeh worked with several Bands doing shows all over the island.He eventually landed a gig at the hottes night club in Spanish Town called Big Daddy's club. This was the place where Barrington met and introduced on stage artist the likes Delroy Wilson,
Phyllis Dillion, Carl Darkins and many more.
After performing at the club one night, Barrington was approched by one of the members of Rags and Riches singing group. He was asked to join the group. This meeting exposed Bembeh to bigger shows. The group performed at the Christmas morning concert at the Carib Theater and many big shows all over the Island; working with Gregory Issacs,Dennis Brown,Ken Booth just to name a few.

Barrington migrated to the US in 1980 where he hooked up with some of his friends. The first two Band he sang with in the U.S. was called Izes then the Heritage Band.
After performing at a club in Queens,Bembeh was asked by Phillip Morgan, a bass player,to form a resident band at Dynasty Night Club in Brooklyn. The band was called Cognito.
After a few years at that gig, Barrington wanted to record music. He,Junior Blair,a producer and Phillip Morgan started to record. The first single was released in 1983, the remake of the Sensations:Everyday Is Just An Holiday.

There was minimal sucsess of the remake,so Barrington decided to take time out and go back to school. He attended Long Island University where he studied media arts. he was given his own two hours radio show every saturday.
Attending College and learning about communication, Barrington took the opportunity to fine tune his ability for write his own materials and build his recording studio, result is his brand new album called: Mind Power. The album was produced by him at Conscious Productions Studio. Bembeh also produce for many well known and local artists as well, The likes of Prince Pankhi Calton Coffie (on The Itrucoustic Riddm),I Trujah,R. King Redemption,Formulla,Lion Melta, Doogle D and many more.

In the year 2008 Barrington added The Itrucoustic riddm to his resume. Along with I Trujah, Bembeh produced the riddm which it his biggest success to date. The riddim Features Artist such as: Jah Mason, Calton Coffie, Lutah Fiyah, I Trujah, R. King Redemption and Bembeh himself just to name a few of the over twenty seven artists who participated in the project.

While Barrington was producing, he was also in the process of setting up his production company called: Conscious Media Productions. His company is now reaching the world with conscious music. Working along side Jah Stars Productions Barrington as developed a relationship and is now looking forward to greater heights.
