“JUST PURPOSE”

Born in Mobile, AL to a single mother, Deborah A. Pugh, Jonathan L. Pugh grew up as the only child, surrounded by a large family in a small yet fast city. Jumping off the porch early and learning his do’s and dont’s in the “Campground” became second nature.
At the age of 10, poetry became his safe haven. Influenced to be the best at what you do, by Grandfather, Langston T. Stallworth Sr., “J.P.” began to transfer his poetic reality to hip-hop songs while his Mother held down a 9-5 and attended night school. The streets were left to raise him which left positive influences like his Grandmother Betty L. Stallworth and his Mother too far and few between.
Settling back and forth from Mobile to Daphne, AL didn’t last long since his Mom joined the army in order to move to a new destination. This new destination, Germany, is where “J.P.” attended high school and first stepped foot into a recording booth almost 15 years ago. He finally had the opportunity to share his stories with the industry and begin a following. But after his Grandfather suffered a second stroke, Mama decided it was best to relocate closer to home.
LA, OK, and TX became his new stomping grounds where he continued to follow his dream and unfortunately experienced hard learned lessons with several independent labels regarding many business aspects of the music industry.
Now with help from his best friend Kimberly “Sunshine” Pickens, the music realm is seen as more of a “business first, chit chat later” environment. With the backing of family members, support from his Father, Donald Johnson, and Gods Grace, “J.P.” is prepared to rise out of the cracks in which he had fallen and
speak Truth to the Young-n-Old.
As a newly independent artist as of February 2007, “J.P.” has decided to utilize his knowledge base to begin a production company focused on maintaining true professionalism at all times~
The first project “Rhyme & Word Relation” is currently in the works while he also utilizes his talents and knowledge to provide consulting services, facilitate workshops and participate on the Executive Board for the non-profit organization, Motivation On Wheels, Inc. With this very organization, he has already collaborated, recorded and released the EP “My Occupation”
“J.P.” definitely stands as a force to be reckoned with…..
