Mike Mckendry
Biography
Singer/Songwriter and Entertainer Mike Mckendry, has a collection of material recorded from 1991 through to 1998.

Mike started piano lessons at the age of 4 and was also playing guitar by the age of 10. At 14 he was the main guitarist in the Linwood High School Jazz band, and one of a few to recieve a Blazar award for this. At 17 he was playing in a well known new wave band, but was far too young and in-different to the lifestyle of Muso's much older than himself.
Mike joined the AirForce as an Avionics Mechanic in 1986, he quotes "My Uncle steered me in that direction, and it was probably a good manouver as the music scene was pretty wild back then. I lasted for 2 years then left to study for a science degree and become a teacher, but they didn't like me selling albums in the staff room on my teaching sections, I have to laugh because on one of them a Teacher pulled me aside and said, you can't do music and teaching together. At that stage Mike's song "First Love" , "Tea Break" and "My Peace" were having airplay on local radio stations. Eventually Music won and by 1995 he was playing 150 gigs per year right up until the American tour.

Album titles his songs can be found on are 1)Heavenly Armour 2)Heavenly Armour LIVE (recorded live in concert 1994, at the Majestic House CH CH New Zealand) 3) Come Together Compilation (3 Tracks with 9 other well known N.Z CCM artists) and 4)Heaven & Earth(penned during a 4 month tour of the U.S.A in 1997)

Mike's intention is to make most of these tracks available along with some more recent Demo's, one of the demo's will be produced with a suitable video feature.

Mike's song "Servant Heart" made it into the top 20 of the Big Break competition in 2005. This was an event during New Zealand music month of May, and the competition was run by New Zealand's Rhema. Rhema is the only station in N.Z that has Nationwide coverage, and the song had considerable exposure to a wide field of listeners.

With over 20 years playing the pub/club/function scene, he has now developed into a seasoned and passionate entertainer.

Mike has recently returned from entertaining in Sydney, next July he will return with his band, to perform a series of Elton John tribute Shows in the RSL club scene. Intense interest from some club managers, has meant that bookings are currently underway. At home he has been totally booked up for the entire 07', both with his solo/band work and 7 piece tribute showband.

Watch this space for continuous development of new demo material that hopefully will refresh you.

Please note that mike's indie label Fervent Sounds, is undergoing a huge restructuring. Only future Solicited material will be available for purchase, along with his up and coming album. So for now just enjoy the diverse selection of old stuff.

A New Demo Video of Mike playing "You're Love Broke Through", is currently underway. This song was co-written by Randy Stonehill & Keith Green.

This has to be the best Elton John tribute I've ever heard. You have managed to capture the spirit of Reggie and convey his emotion through his songs. Excellent. Your original material is mind blowing and exceptional. You've got a hi five from me.
