Steve Jai has been a Musician/Vocalist for over 37 years. Early on he was influenced heavily by his father Clarence Johnson who was a noted Jazz vocalist and sang locally with many small combos in the Metro Charleston/Huntington, WV area. Growing up he was exposed to artists like Nat King Cole, Oscar Peterson, Miles Davis, Sammy Davis Jr. and many others.

Steve was a voice major/piano minor in college at Marshall University and also did some additional training at Laney Junior College in Oakland California for a year or so.

Steve has traveled extensively throughout the US playing many venues from local clubs to major resort show rooms. He has played with various regional acts in Virginia such as Kid Shalene out of Virginia Beach, The Santa Cruz Band out of Charleston, and Skin Tight Huntington to name a few. He has always enjoyed writing music and has been involved with submitting various projects to several major and Indie record labels.
