Type: Show/Concert Location: 1059 W. Addison Chicago ID Description: Artists United For Cures (AUFC) in conjunction with Brown Eye Entertainment, Ohana Promotions & Root Soul Productions is having a fundraiser July 31, 2008 at The Cubby Bear located at 1059 W. Addison in Chicago to benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer 3Day Walk. The organization’s goal is to raise $10K to contribute. Towards that effort, there will be a live web broadcast of the concert available for only $5 to reach the audience beyond Chicago. If you are in Chicago, please feel free to attend the event in person which includes great live entertainment, a two-hour open bar, food, and free parking for only $50. We also have a special guest Claude B. Spivey, original founding member of Parliament Funkadelic, and his lively wife Deena Allen-Spivey, four-time Apollo winner, who will be in attendance. Tickets can be purchased at www.artistsunitedforcures.com.
This first fundraiser is to benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation but the goal of AUFC reaches far beyond that. The primary purpose is to help the non-insured and the under-insured obtain the medicine and the treatment that they need to beat diseases like but not limited to Breast Cancer that have available treatment but for financial reasons people can not obtain the life saving benefits of that treatment. Monetary limitations should not be the deciding factor in rather a person lives or dies.
Tammy Harris, founder of AUFC, knows first hand that having access to the treatment is a key factor in a person’s likelihood for survival. Tammy watched her mom’s battle end triumphantly because she had access to some of the best possible treatment available. Sadly, Tammy’s Granny and Aunt did not have access to those resources 15 & 16 years ago when they fought their battles. In large part because of what Tammy viewed, she committed herself to do her part and try to make a difference not only by starting AUFC but in the past she has volunteered in other Breast Cancer Walks, at The United Cerebral Palsy Foundation, The Red Cross, The Starlight Foundation, Greer’s Residential Center, and in various service projects throughout the city. Being of service to others is one of the most important ways that you can give back.
We look forward to you being a part of the event in any way possible. If you can’t attend the event in person or on the web, you can still go to www.artistsunitedforcures.com, go to the donation page and make a direct online donation to the Susan G. Komen Foundation by clicking on the widget.
Thanks in advance,
Tammy Harris

Biography
Tamara (Tammy) Nichole Harris is a talented vocalist and lyricist from Chicago, Illinois who is earning her cap as a producer as well. Tammy's music is a smooth blend of traditional R&B soul music fused with elements of Jazz & Funk. Tammy's style had been described by many as reminiscent of the timing of Phyllis Hyman, the vibrato of Stephanie Mills and Randy Crawford, a waver like Denise Williams and the class of Nancy Wilson.
Tammy's debut album, Can't Keep A Good Woman Down", released in 2003 is a mix of funky grooves, attitude with raw emotions, yet feminine in every since of the word. The debut single, "Only To You", is a heart-felt ballad of a woman who has previously encountered unhappy love situations and has finally found the person that she believes is the key. "Only To You" encompasses the essence of love. The title track, "Can't Keep A Good Woman Down", is a testament to strength of women who endure various obstacles on a daily basis. Tammy co-wrote and co-produced all tunes on this album. "Can't Keep A Good Woman Down" offers the listener so much from start to finish.
Tammy’s sophomore project "Natural Vibe" which offers a deeper listen into the artistry of Miss Harris was released in the Spring of 2007. This album features remixes of the title song and "Come Over" by The Remix King, Grammy award winning Maurice Joshua and Rob Diggy whose credits include the Grammy winning re-mix of Crazy in Love for Beyonce. All songs on this project were produced with live band with talents lent by some of Chicago's hottest, most sought after and most talented musicians. The title song is collaboration with William Jackson out of Texas and Clarence Ferguson out of New York. The single is already creating a buzz.
Featuring remakes by Tammy's favorite three female vocalists of all time - Stephanie Mills, Phyllis Hyman & Nancy Wilson, as well as, great new original songs like "Come Over", "Take Me Away", "You Are" and of course the title cut "Natural Vibe"- this entire project is going to be hot! Keep an ear out!
Tammy received an honorable mention in the 2002 & 2003 John Lennon Songwriting Contest for her songs "I'm Through; I'm Done" and "Only To You" respectively. Additionally, "Only To You", "Illusion of Love", "No Other Love", & "Love Your Neighbor" reached the top ten for Illinois, the Midwest and Top Female Vocal Production with www.broadjam.com. "Illusion of Love" also reached the aforementioned categories, as well as, Broadjam #1 singles. Tammy reached the top 20 with American Idol Underground for "No Other Love."
And there is more to come...
