Eclepto Funk Americana (EFA) is one man's crusade (i.e. "unsuccesful attempt") to bring Punk's cacophonous aggression and Folk's myopic introspEction to Americana music. EFA is an off-shoot of the critically unaclaimed and largely fictitious Project Rockarama Trio.
And what's in a name? Glad you asked.
Eclepto: (pronounced "ee-clepto") "E" is for "electronic" as in e-commerce and e-fraud. "Clepto" recognizes my main inspiration is other people's music, preferably easy to play other people's music.
"Funk" can be confusing because I don't play funk. Rather, I took the "F" of Folk and the "unk" of Punk and put them together because, at heart, I am a punk folk singer, or perhaps a folk punk singer.
"Americana" is self-explanatory, since my music doesn't sound anything like Lucinda Williams or the Jayhawks.
I play a 2000 Telecaster Custom through a Roland MicroCube (quiet!). For (very basic) bass lines, I use an early-1980's Aria Pro II Cardinal Series bass I got at a pawnshop and a Ross Fame-series bass amp (also from a pawnshop). I also have a cheap Yamaha keyboard for fills and such. And a harmonica.
I use a Shure SM57 mic through a 3-track RadioShack mixer. I mix and master with N-Track Studio 5 and Audacity.
Stay tuned, as more of EFA's stuff continues to get uploaded.
