Divine- The Mind, a music producer from a small city ten minutes outside of New Orleans called Kenner. Divine was first taught the fundamentals of the d.j. in the early eighties by his older cousin,while living in Toledo, Ohio. Once he moved back to
New Orleans, he quickly became the go to d.j. in the hood for recording songs, cuts and scratches. This was his position for the next few years, until the industry took a d.j. slump, with the rise of keyboard samplers, When he purchased his first ASR-10 keyboard, this changed his whole outlook on music. With this new sound, he was now producer, engineer for the next ten years he would record artists in the back of grandmas' house and enter talent shows.
He eventually got his groups into some better recording studios, where he met
Aubrey Francis, whom is now manager for
Juvenile. He liked the music Divine was producing, and also the way he would handle things in the studio. When Juvenile started
UTP Records, he was seeking a producer with a diffrent sound Aubrey called up Divine and got him he would audition some trax to Juvenile for his label. Divine and Juvy had instant chemistry which put Divine on tour for the next year with
Juvy, Skip,Wacko, and Young Buck. Divine has met quite a few top chefs in the rap industry during his stint with UTP such as
Bun B, Fat Joe, Jadakiss, C Murda, Lil' Troy, D.J. Whoo Kid, JT The Bigga Figga, Bizzy Bone, Nelly, Scareface, Mean Green, B.G., Trina, Choppa, Dr. Dre, D.J. Yella, Ja Rule, the list goes on. At the end of 2001, Divine left the label because of financial situations with
Cash Money Records. Not burning any bridges Divine and Juvy holla at each other every now and then and conversate.
Divine returned to Louisiana after touring half the U.S. to pick up where he left but now with 3 national releases under his belt with UTP Records. He has cranked out a few mixtapes in his area, and is now working on a jazz/ hip hop album titled
"The Fusion", a solo rap album, and more unique mix CD's for a sample contact him at
