I was a drug addict all my life.
In 2004 I was hopelessly addicted to heroin, homicidal and suicidal, when the most glorious thing happened - an intervention. Several people cared enough to say enough IS enough.
I ended up in the Teen Challenge program and got saved. Teen Challenge is a front line, Christ based recovery program for people of all ages. I was delivered from drug addiction at that time and haven't used since. My life has changed dramatically.
This whole music thing took off after that, and has developed into a SEVERE mid-life crisis. I write about addiction, salvation and recovery -rough subjects, sung thru a rough voice.
I am currently the praise and worship leader for the Celebrate Recovery program at Pantano Christian Church in Tucson, AZ, the best maintenance program for people in recovery that I know of. Celebrate Recovery programs take place in different churches throughout the world.
My "Take This Cup" cd was released in February 2007. My second cd, "A Blessed Man", was released in February 2008. I'm going to keep going.
The Doug Hallock & BROKEN Band was formed, made up of former addicts in recovery. We do concerts in the State Prison and throughout the state. I'll tell anyone that will listen that there is freedom in Christ from anything. And not because I read it in a book - but because I've experienced it.
