The roots of Deacon James and Nelrie Williams Davis and Deacon Elliott and Arneta Donaldson Chaney generated the gospel legacy inherited by the Golden Tones. The Golden Tones is a father and sons gospel group consisting of Edd Thomas Davis, Thomas E. Davis, Cedric D. Davis and Stanton L. Davis.
Brother Edd Davis' parents encouraged his gift from his early childhood until today, toataling a span of over 50 years. He and his 8 siblings began performing as children and still perform when they can get together. Edd's wife, Rebecca Chaney Davis, was born into a loving, singing family, where she and her 9 siblings were taught music and to perform in the church. Edd and Rebecca followed the teachings of their parents and supported their children in developing their musical gifts. Their son , Thomas plays the bass guitar and sings baratone, Cedric sings second lead and Stan sings tenor.
The Goldentones enjoy a very large family, which today spans 4 generations. Without a doubt, the natural and spiritual life experiences of Deacon Davis, Deacon Chaney, Brother Edd and his sons are very different, as they were all reared in very different times. Though many experiences vary, two are constant: love and gospel music. The Golden Tones declare that brotherly love and gospel music "bridge the gap" for all generations.
