Walt Kuchinski began playing guitar at age 11, taught initially by his Dad and then later by several great New York City guitarists. His jazz/rock group, The Dynamics played for many years in New York City, being one of the first to incorporate brass instrumentation into their sound. During this time, Walt taught guitar to well over 100 students.
Today, Guitar Travels performs regularly in the North Carolina region for a wide-range of venues. With roots in jazz, the music presented is diverse, serving to celebrate the wonderful diversity and multicultural nature of our communities.
From straight jazz and standards to Afro, Brazilian, Middle Eastern, Caribbean, Latin jazz and everything in between, Guitar Travels delivers an exciting program that is sure to please. His recently released CD by the same name (Guitar Travels - a Musical Journey) is featured on iTunes and has been well-received both in the U.S. and overseas.
Performances have included a special presentation for Preston Bailey, (event planner to the star's), private performances at Duke Mansion, a concert at Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens, numerous concert series at Bank of America and Wachovia, a performance at Elkin Creek Winery, benefit performances for 'A Party in Pink' for the American Cancer Society, private events at the Mint Museum of Art, and a wide-range of outdoor concerts for Music Under the Stars during the 2006 performance year. His song 'East of Sahara' was a featured piece on a national Jazz Radio Show, and his song 'Passion Dance' is the featured track for a new video created for Charlotte Viewpoint.
