Biography
What happens when you put together Blues, Jazz, Fusion, Rock & Country? You get a progressive blend that is uniquely Kim Evans.
A Theory & Composition major and songwriter, Kim has written music that has received airplay on commercial radio, music beds for both radio and television spots, and serious pieces performed by brass and woodwind ensembles and choral groups around the country.
Kim's first release, Funkmaster, (2005, Sweet Pickle) an instrumental Progressive Rock-Jazz-Fusion project, has been acclaimed and appreciated for its range from "incredibly beautiful" to "absolutely smokin'." It includes Hollywood’s Planet, written for friend Jeanne Basone (G.L.O.W.’s wrestling babe, “Hollywood,” now model, actress, & stuntwoman). Another tune from this project is currently the theme music for the very popular podcast Washington Travelcast.
The long anticipated release of a few hard miles, arrived on Christmas Eve 2006 (Sweet Pickle). The album was co-produced by Kim Evans & Jon Mathias, who was a legendary producer & engineer for such groups as: The Allman Brothers Band, Dickey Betts, Kiss, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, J. Geils Band, Dire Straits, Mariah Carey, Manowar, Meatloaf, and Neil Young.
a few hard miles features appearances by such well-known artists as Wayne Nelson (Vocalist & Bassist for the Little River Band); Rob Whitlock, a highly regarded jazz keyboardist who has been featured with such artists as Chris Potter, Fattburger & Kathy Lee Gifford; and Drummer, Duncan Moore, who has done session work with Livin Out Loud, Randy Driscoll, Jazzooo & the Bob Magnussen Quintet.
Additional musicians include Dennis Caplinger, renowned folk & bluegrass producer/artist, and a regular with Tim Flannery and Friends; celebrated San Diego Drummer, Paul Chapman; vocalist Caroline Martin, who has sung on title soundtracks for five movies including Steven King's Sleepwalkers and Disney's Jungle Book; distinguished Las Vegas Jazz Singer, Cat Jefferson; popular local San Diego singers Sheryl Roccoforte & Dianne Day; and former Arista Records artist Jeddie Day.
