Biography
An unrivaled and talented artist, Klassic was born 1984 on the island of Dominica, also known as D.A, a component of the Leeward Islands. There he was raised in a neighborhood like any other, where enemies were as prevalent as comrades, and childhood friendships matured into established cliques or social circles. He found contentment in music, stimulating his senses with the tempos and rhythms of Bob Marley, Nasio and Buju Banton; however, his musical inclination shifted towards a more contemporary genre after hearing the urban poetics of one of hip hops most noteworthy and prominent artists. I first fell in love with rap back when I was 12, when one of my closest homeboys let me borrow his 2pac CD, All Eyes on Me . Like many young men he was moved by Shakurs profound lyrics, and although they were worlds apart he felt that he could relate to the late rappers struggle, as though every pen stroke was made for him, and each verse and hook had been extracted from the pages of his life. The first song that caught my attention was Only God Can Judge Me; I was going through a stage where I felt like everyone was trying to judge me. As he approached the end of childhood and the beginning of adolescence, his neighborhood became inundated with developing gangs and illicit behavior. As a result of the turmoil arising in his hometown, Klassic moved to Miami, where his life took a dramatic turn for the better despite his static financial status. Prior to his commute to Florida, he took part in song writing, an act of catharsis that was originally just a hobby for him and a close friend of his. Never in all his years did he believe that his teenage pastime would become his lifes passion. At the age of 16, he started to freestyle with dudes that resided on his block, eventually recording freestyles on his computer and listening to their finished products for the greater part of the day. As time passed by and the gravity of his situation increased, he, along with a few friends, resorted to extreme measures to acquire cash, even racking up charges ranging from attempted sales to 1st degree murder. Unfortunately as time went on, one by one his closest friends began to catch major charges, and Klassic decided it was time to get his life on track and find another way to better his situation and help those around him escape the negative lifestyle that could send their lives on a downward spiral of destruction. A sociable man by nature, he found it difficult to make the transition to that of solitary one; fortunately for him, he still had music to keep him company. On long drives, lyrics would pop into his head as he flowed to himself, and the return of his writing hobby was imminent. Initially, only those closest to him had the pleasure of hearing his songs, but as time went by he recorded them on CDs, receiving tremendous feedback concerning his talent for prose and rhyme. For Klassic, this was all the motivation and momentum he needed to compose additional songs and take his craft to new heights. He decided to begin recording in professional studios, and after collaborating with great underground producers such as Divine and The Huey, he felt that he was in urgent need of an audience to witness his lyrical gift. He patronized open mic nights to watch underground artists perform, and it wasnt long before he felt compelled to take part in the action. Klassic states, Being on stage was the greatest feeling I ever had, it was a whole new world to me. He was amazed that the crowd was impressed with his raw lyrics and unique image, a motive that fueled his determination to reach his full potential. Klassic accredits his success to perseverance and his faith in God, I just gave it my all, kept trying to better myself and asked God to bless me with this talent. Because of his willpower and commitment, Klassic can now be found at different venues in Miami and has gained recognition as of one the hottest underground emcees in the city. He is beyond doubt a dedicated artist, an accomplished performer that refuses to stop until he makes it to the top!
