I A M LaRue
Once known as La La the Lyrical Lyricist, now in transition to greatness has now manifested as LaRue which is his real name and it is also the French word for The Street. With intricately woven truths about life, over music he spews forth- real life in the form of HIP-HOP.
As a multi-talented artist overseeing the streets of The Bronx, New York, LaRue is deemed the hardest working emcee. With an electrifying stage show he tours from open mics to comedy shows, from block to block, doing whatever it takes to be seen and heard. Take a moment and walk with him.
The year 1997- hit single “Tell Me” receives 40% of votes on Hot 97’s Battle of the Beats against the world known Busta Rhymes. Never had there been an unsigned artist that took that position. LaRue’s 1998 Promos for the number one hip hop station’s radio personalities ripped the airwaves. You may have heard his promos for personalities such as Ed Lover and Dr. Dre, Fat Man Scoop, Red Alert, Jazzy Joyce, the infamous Wendy Williams and many others. That year he transformed into the Hot 97’s promo master.
Let’s build some more. In 1999 after entering the radio arena, he took the show on the road. That year LaRue opened up for Snaps Comedy Show at the legendary Apollo and hosted as well as performed at the Greek Fest at Jones Beach. 2000 until present he is still on his grind performing at vast venues such as Justin’s, Caroline’s, Manhattan Proper, The City Night Club, Club Speed, the list goes on. He also opened up for New York Kings of Comedy Talent, Capone, Drew Frasier, Rob Stapleton, and from The Chapelle Show, Donnell Rawlings.
In his daily transformations LaRue finds himself as an entrepreneur. Sitting as President and CEO of an independent record company, 4 All Ages Entertainment, he released 3 singles and 4 mix tapes with limited resources and the help of his executive producer and partner Big Age and his A&R Jermaine Shan. Through these years he has also produced Comedy Shows and Music Showcases at New York City Universities’ own Lehman College.
He achieved status that some signed artists never attained by believing in the four “P’s” to success: Passion, Persistence, Positivism, and Product. “Never give up on your dreams,” was the message delivered daily by his father, Hayward Marlow Sr. (R.I.P. 1998). Even though the mourning of his father presented pain never felt before, it transformed and catapulted him into the warrior we see today. He is HIP-HOP. He is LaRue.
