Mark Hvilsted is a singer/songwriter from Denmark with a passion for pop music.
Having taught himself to play the guitar and keyboard at age 12, he later learnt to play the saxophone and started writing songs. Drawn towards catchy tunes that make the listener hum along and tap their feet to the music, it was only a matter of time before Mark decided to sideline his R&B and jazz projects to concentrate on creating catchy pop tunes of his own, which has lead to a collection of over 500 songs.
This lead to playing small shows in and around his home city of Copenhagen, which in turn has lead to the recording of his first studio album. Already his first single ‘Game On’ is enjoying minor success in Canada and is being played regularly on Canadian college and Indie radio stations.
Marks varied influences, ranging from Phil Collins to AC/DC to The Beatles to Greenday, make it impossible to describe his signature sound. Whether it be a happy pop song, a hard and fast pop rock song or a sweet ballad, all Marks tunes have the common thread of compelling the listener to tap their toes and sing along by the first chorus.
The album, ‘When Right In Bloom’, released by Juicyhalftone Records, was recorded at Ventura Studios in Copenhagen with some of the best Scandinavian musicians such as Jan Lysdahl, Gustaf Ljunggren, Rune Kjeldsen and Ole Kibsgaard
