With early memories of his uncle (Louis Anthony McCall, 1951-1997) on stage as the drummer for Con Funk Shun, one of the most popular funk bands of the 70’s and 80’s, M-Dash’s destiny has always been music. Influenced and coached by his mentor, Mac Dre (1970-2004), M-Dash has the innate ability to write not only light and humorous lyrics, but also deep and thought-provoking prose. His voice, lyrics and persona are not only appealing to local Bay Area and California rap music lovers, but to national and international fans as well. This is evidenced by his growing sales and increasing fan base – sales have done particularly well in the Northwest, the Southwest, Northern California and Japan.

Born and raised in Vallejo, CA – a virtually well known city for talent – M-Dash began his career at a young age by performing at talent shows and writing poetry, but his real hustle began when he first began professionally recording as a rapper/hip hop artist in the mid 90’s. A few years later, he grew tired of depending on other people and the businessman in him emerged. He decided to take control of his own destiny and began his own label, Platinum Bound Entertainment. “I wanted to establish something on my own; I figured I could guide my own destiny and learn from my own mistakes…also for my uncle, I want to carry on his legacy”, explains M-Dash.

M-Dash’s Music has been recognized in interviews by such highly circulated, national magazines that showcase Bay Area Artists such as Xplosive Magazine, SouthWestBound Magazine, Booty Crack Magazine and RayBay.net, with more on the way. Additionally, he was recently featured on T-Kash and Sean Kennedy’s Friday night show on KPFA (Berkeley, CA) and has been featured several times on other California radio stations such as KPOO and KWIN.

Now with nine successful releases under his belt and more on the way, M-Dash is certainly carrying on a legacy of greatness in his own right. M-Dash has solely moved over 5,000 units, and mostly without the help of a professional distribution. Platinum Bound’s releases can be found in many Tower Records as well as other chain stores and smaller retail stores. If performances is heavy hitters such as Mac
Dre, Sean T, Jacka, Mistah Fab, B-Legit and more; attending events to support fellow artists and promote his releases; recording new music; AND managing a label of six artists wasn’t enough, M-Dash also hosts a successful online radio show, The Cannibus Club Session, on SacTownRadio.com. Airing several times and days a week, M-Dash’s growing audience of listeners enjoys new music (some even unreleased), hot interviews, fun trivia games, and giveaways.

Currently, M-Dash is Nominated for Best New Artist at the 2006 Bay Area Rap Awards; is working on his highly anticipated second solo album, Keep Smoke Alive, featuring The Game, Sean T (Get Gone Records), The Jacka(Mob Figaz), Husalah (Mob Figaz), Young Dru, Lee Majors, Sitzon Skrilla (Platinum Bound Entertainment) and more. Additionally, M-Dash is concentrating on expanding his growing fan base by continuing to perform in various parts of California and the Northwest and Southwest. Past performances have included shows with Andre Nickatina, B-Legit, Messy Marv, frat parties at major universities, and more. Concurrently, M-Dash is working on a DVD with Blazon Entertainment titled Bay Area Giants, Bosses, CEO’s – this DVD provides a unique look at the business behind the business of the rap game, scheduled for a summer 2006 release date, and will feature
interviews with all the bay Area stars, and more. Also, look for M-Dash and Platinum Bound Entertainment this summer as they will be touring with Keak Da Sneak, B-Legit, Yukmouth and more.

With all of the irons M-Dash has in the fire, it’s no wonder that he carries around a reputation as not only one of
the most dedicated and hardest working rappers in Northern California, but one of the most talented as well.
