PRESS RELEASE
Producer/Engineer
Curtis L. Mitchell

Curtis L. Mitchell-Smith was born on December 25th, 1964 to Farming Parents, Claudine Mitchell, and Hence Smith at Brooksville, Mississippi. He is married and lives with his wife and two children in The South Central United States of America. His Developing Company, MECUSA TELECOMMUNICATIONS is Headquartered at Michigan City, Indiana in "The Region Area of Northwest Indiana" near Chicago, Illinois. "I remember living on the farm when I was a child with all the animals, I was responsible for gathering the eggs that the chickens would lay from The Henhouse. If I was not working, I was playing with my cousins, life was carefree and relaxed".

Presently, he is on location at Gosnell/Blytheville, Arkansas marketing to K-JAM; KAMJ FM 93.9
(c.2007/SBG/ABC), Mike Lester of "The Mighty Mike Lester Morning Show" his new single,
"It Ain't Right" Curtis Mitchell Feat.Marlise on Chrystal Cherry Records/MECLAR (BMI), NY.

He is also developing a new Nationally Syndicated Radio Show called "The Express Mixes Radio Show" being marketed to ABC Radio Network at Dallas, Texas. "I have talked with ABC Radio Network, Program Director, Stan Boston and we are planning a conference with Mike Lester of KAMJ FM 93.9/ABC for a strategic plan for future releases of MECLAR Multi-Media Products and Services in Telecommunications".

The youngest of 7 children, education and training seemed to be the way out of poverty to help his family. The family moved North in 1969 from Brooksville, Mississippi to Michigan City, Indiana. "My mother cleaned homes at Long Beach, Indiana, and my father worked at Blocksom and Company at Michigan City, Indiana, we would have a good time on Friday Nights, my parents would be relaxing from the work week, drinking beer, playing records, having friends and relatives stop over, laughing, talking, and being a family"! "When I became older, I went to school and during my teenage years and into my early adulthood while I was at Indiana University, I worked at The Michigan City Port Authority, It was exhausting and difficult work, but I needed the money for my self-management (1981-1987)"!

He attended Rogers High School at Michigan City, Indiana. He was a "Star Athelete and Producer" and was his Senior Class President in 1983. Curtis had received a Scholarship to play Football at WestPoint in New York under Coach Lee Cunningham in 1983 but chose to attend Indiana Univeristy thru The Groups Program in 1984."I Felt I had not receieved the support I needed from my community and Rogers High School to be successful at The Academy, so I did not attend-My sights were on other projects"!

Curtis knew at an early age he wanted to become a Producer. He would listen to records his mother would buy and read the credits to understand what a Producer/Engineer was?. "Most notably, I remember James Brown on Polygram Records, I decided then that was my career"!

He enlisted in The U.S. Marines at 17 Years Old, but an injury left him unable to complete his "Tour of Duty" and he received an Honorable Discharge prior to going to War at Beirut, Lebanon in 1984.

His education was paramount, and later he went onto Indiana University and studied communications and graduated with a Degree in Telecommunications and a Minor in Spanish (1984-1992). He is still affiliated with IU since 1984. "I operated a DJ Service while in College called "Music Exress Productions" with Charles Martin of Kokomo, Indiana, I would receive contracts thru out The State of Indiana, and have been featured in The Indiana Daily Student (IDS) at IU about my DJ Company on (April, 24th, 1986).

He has won The Directors Award from The Afro-American Arts Institute (1986-87,1989,1990) and The Best TV Producer Award from TELESAC (1990,1991) within The Department of Telecommunications in The School of Radio and TV of The College of Arts And Sciences at Indiana University and is still active in Radio,Television, and Film Productions Nationally.

His plight has been to increase minority ownership in major publishing firms. Publicity Articles about Curtis have appeared in The Michigan City News-Dispatch, The La Porte Herald Argus, The Indiana Daily Student, and other publications, and broadcast promotions around the country.

"I have delt with Companies like MCA Records, and Kyrie Abdul of "The Boyz" who now manages Ground Level Distribution at Inglewood, Caliornia,The Sound Of Los Angeles Records (SOLAR), Brooks Street Music, and have produced arrangements with Dave Zoller, noted arranger for "The Tonight Show" (NBC) from Dallas, Texas" thru September Recording Studio at Indianapolis, Indiana. Other works have been with Derrick Gardner, a member of the Count Basie Orchestra in 1991, The Voyage Band's, Donna Taylor, Rodney Thomas and Greg Pagani in The Production of "How I Feel" as Executive Producer for Music Express Productions. (MCA/Motown/1990-91).

Other noted Producers, Arrangers, Engineers and Publishers across The United States including Kenneth Ware of The IU Soul Revue, Portia Maultsby and Herman Hudson of The IU Afro-American Affairs Department, Mary Denise-Bentley from "The Cast of The Dream Girls" in an IU Soul Revue Production and James Mumford of The IU Afro-American Choral Ensemble. Credits include Audio Engineering with Wayne Jackson of The IU School of Music in the Production,
"Prelude To Swing" (1987) which was written and Prodcued by Winona Fletcher at IU. Curtis has served as The Equipment Manager with The Afro-American Arts Institue at Indiana University, and supervised many productions on the business side, technically, and creatively under the supervision of Producer/Director Kenneth Ware of The IU Soul Revue.

He has produced National Radio Commercials for Broadcast for Indiana University as well as numerous Technical Consulting Assigments, and Video/Television Productions with BCAT Channel 3, "The King Tribute" with up and coming Film Producer/Director Donald Varda at Channel 27 in Michgan City, Indiana to include numerous public productions. He acted as The Music Director/Associate Producer and Lead Camera Operator for The R407 Senior Field Television Production Final Project in RTV for WTIU Channel 30, A PBS Afiliate (1991), creating an original music score for the show entitled "Today We Begin" for the Program, "War In The Gulf-A Campus Perspective"(1991) during his career at Indiana University. The show was hosted by WFIU NewsPerson Margaret Joseph with Supervising Producers, Lori Brost, and Marcy Paul.(1991-1997); Curtis has also been a Student Mentor, and Teacher of many students at The Michigan City Area Scools, The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Center at Michigan City, Indiana, and at Indiana University helping disadvantaged youth on The Westside of Bloomington, Indiana as well as helping many people with disabilities in his public service capacity. "I have a signed agreement from 1990-91 with Indiana University Distinguished Jazz Professor, David Baker of The IU School of Music to appear in a future recording, I am just catching up with myself since college-I have taken my time to cover all the bases, I hope to work with Professor Baker, It would be a privilege and honor to produce a recording with such a great talent."
(1991-2007)

Part of a winning team from the Fifth Sony Innovators Awards Program with D.J. Whip and M.C. Blue of Indianapolis, Indiana, (1992), Curtis became a sought after producer after college passing up a contract with Rodney Step, legendary keyboardist for The Spinners, opting out for a chance to CEO his own firm, MECUSA. "They offerd me $60,000.00 (Sixty Thousand Dollars) right out of college, it was'nt about the money, I was caught up in "Red Tape" with IU over a racial issue, my grades, and finances and the issues still are'nt over after 16 years now (1991-2007), it has troubled my career with me loosing valuable project time and money"."Rodney (Brooks Street Music at Indianapolis, Indiana) stated he thought I was talented enough to operate my own production company, so I took up the challenge". I was introduced to Rodney Step by Attorney Milt Thompson of Sports Ventures at Indianapolis, Indiana. Attorney Thompson believes in my ability and advised me to take my time with my projects. "It was like being drafted into the Professional Big Leagues with Milt". Sports Ventures has represented such high profile professional organizations such as The Boston Celtics, and The Indianapolis 500, and The PAN-American Games at Indianapolis, Indiana. Curtis has also produced Music for Broadcast at WEFM FM 95.9 at Michigan City, Indiana for The Weekly Talk Show, "Talk of The Town" in 2002.

Riding high on his success from college, Curtis has began his own publishing firm called MECLAR. He has a relationship with Jeff Lane of The Chicago Recording Company at Chicago, Illinois and also American Idol/19 Management's Lindsey Edwards at West Los Angeles, California to submit songs for publishing review. (1997-2006) He appears to bring The Artist-Executive approach to his national debut.

Jive Records Senior Vice-President of A&R, Wayne Williams is considering signing this new producer in 2008. Attorney Linda Mensch at Chicago, Illinois first introduced The Rising Producer to Jive Records in 1997. His working legal relationship is with Attorney Thomas Lewis of Lewis and Associates at Gary, Indiana since 1988. He currently works with fellow Songwriters Marlise Evans, and Charles Rawls in producing new recordings for Chrystal Cherry Records/MECLAR at Chicago, Illinois. "We make a good team, I like my songwriting partners, we have been collaborating on projects since about The Winter of 2002. "(Rawls, Evans, Mitchell c.2007 REM)". Curtis is hoping for success in the release of his first CD single release entitled
"It Ain't Right", Curtis Mitchell Feat. Marlise due out soon. "I am looking for talent to take to Jive/Zomba, NY. I feel as though my time has come. I want to operate and re-open thier Chicago Operations-I want to put new stars out there into the public and I have the power to do that independently". My goal is to earn a Law Degree in Entertainment, Sports, and Intellectual Property Rights Managment. As this relates to The Laws of The Music Industry, Curtis received a "Letter of Recognition" from President Bill Clinton in 1997 pertaining to "The Fairness In Musical Licensing Act of 1997" as part of his relationship with BMI at New York and The White House at Washington, D.C. in his advancement as a Professional within his Field of Telecommunications. This is a Producer to watch in 2008 and beyond! (2003-Present)
