Biography
The project was formed during 2004
from 2 individuals with the sole intention to create a side music project into
the field of electronics. This innovation was called Division Alpha.
After some attempts and compositions, both individuals parted ways and Division
Alpha was put to rest.
After a long break, Jo, the only
remained member decided to elaborate and enhance the first compositions. At
that time, Jo showed an intense maturity in song writing, and this was reflected
on the 1st promo called In Sensations Adorned (previously released
under the Ethereal J monicker). Shortly after, the name was changed to
MJ.5, where some fellows usually interpret it as Majestic 5. Some
promos were sent to radios and labels. Results were somehow fruitless due to the
unusual compositions of the same tracks. Afterwards, a US based net label
(Obscured Records) decided to host the project for future works and
collaboration. Again the results were scarce especially because MJ.5
decided to leave the label after several months due to lack of professionalism.
Meanwhile, a local gig was done,
featuring locally known performers (e.g. DJ Gotama, Fish, Wailin on
Didgeridoos, etc.). Comments were quite positive, and MJ.5 was
described as a fresh amalgamation of ideas, styles and conceptions. Moreover the
artist behind was praised for his vast knowledge of musical styles for instance
ethnic music, classical, folk, Shamanism, tribal and so forth. It was noted that
MJ.5 is quite linked with the ambient scene, and this was strongly
reflected in the psychedelic ambience emitted from the same mind, together with
the long monotonous synth passages.
Currently MJ.5 is not fully
active since the person behind is also involved into other projects for example Sky Of Yuggoth (www.myspace.com/skyofyuggoth). However,
the plans for the forthcoming works are definitely aimed to have a blend of EBM
and Alternative Industrial…
The concept of MJ.5 stands
only for fine ears, and for those who like both dark and celestial tunes.
