Coming from a religious family of twelve, Mark and Elijah Dexter, Better known as Bird B and Lijah The Money Makers, was separated do to their father’s imprisonment. This life changing altercation lead to their adoptions at the ages of 6 (Lijah) and 7 (Bird B). A life through the system made them see the pros and cons of life through different perspectives. They began rapping in their teen years, in the streets of Tampa, Florida fascinated by their superior peers who had taken on the role of local rappers. One of whom being an older brother, which they looked up to. Though success seemed to be close, through unfortunate circumstances Federal prison brought a halt to his music career. Determined to pick up where he left off the Money Maker Movement began.
The Money Makers represent the realness and creativity in rap, everything they make is original. Their lyrics always carry some type of a hidden message that they have experienced through life. Just listen to every word and you’ll understand. Which by the way, are their thoughts and opinions they chose to express freely, do to the fact that on occasions they don’t write, they just simply state the memorized lines in their head. The best aspects of rapping to them include show performances, being able to freely express their selves through music, and also being able to see who can relate to their lyrics and music.
The Money Makers say their best overall quality is the love for the rap game. As well as their constant drive to achieve success. In summer of 2009 they released their first mix tape: The Money Movement. In regards to their ongoing dedication to their fans, they have a minute amount of time for them selves. In their spare time away from music they are with family and friends. Their career goals are to reach the peak, further more to re-establish lost time with family. Their philosophy on music is what an old wise man once told them… “Your talent will make room for you.”
