Rein born Heireina Patrei Johnson was born and raised in San Francisco, CA. Rein’s destiny has always been BIG from the 5 year old singing “Tomorrow” (from the movie Annie) to the top of her lungs on her mom’s small apartment balcony --to the young, eccentric and fiery preacher teacher, exhorter, praise & worship leader, choir director, mother, and solo artist she has become today.

Full grown with a new found excitement for life and zeal for encouragement and “kin-dom” building, Rein is ready to share her story with the world. A self declared witness to her favorite author Langston Hughes’ poem “Life Ain’t Been No Crystal Stair,” Rein is ready to TALK. She’s ready to talk about the issues no one wants to address or preach about: sex, molestation, abortion, rape, bulimia, anorexia, abuse, divorce, choices and self esteem. Having experienced a life that wasn’t always filled with fun, light, and life, this girl is truly worth experiencing. Some might see her as extremely transparent--but she feels that vulnerability and transparency are liberating. “If God gives it to you to say, say it. If God gives it to you to write, write it. If God gives it to you to sing, sing it. If it encourages someone, changes a life, brings someone into a new way of thinking, living or being, then it is all worth it (Rein’s words).

What is Rein about? Well... she sums herself up as Inspirational --but most would say she is Rock, Blues, Soul, high energy and full of Spirit with a positive message. Some have even labeled her the Beyonce of Gospel because she is equally beautiful and electrifying on stage. Having been declared by many as a {potential} look-a-like for Joann Rosario, Mary J. Blige, and even Donna Summer--Rein smiles at the compliments with the understanding that she is unique and new, so most need to peg her in order to grasp her. Unique indeed...she believes that you can be eclectic, creative, sexy, and fun and minister just as well.

Rein is not to be underestimated. There is more to her than her look and style. She can break apart a text in righteous and inclusive consciousness and preach a WORD, encourage and witness, lift up high praise and worship, lead a choir into musical frenzy and angelic harmony, teach a powerful bible study and Sunday school lesson, break it down on stage, and sit and chat with you just the same. Self-titled as a “diva in the faking” we disagree. Rein is indeed a righteous diva. Humble, creative, talented, anointed, eccentric, established, beautiful, kind, ---there are simply too many words to describe this artist; this person; this woman.
