Rick McLaughlin and John Roles came together to produce a fast paced, Down and dirty Pop/rock type of CD with the music styles of the 70’s and 80’s, with a twist of today’s indie sounds. Both Rick and John are ardent Beatle fans along with a variety of other bands in that era. Rick got together with John back in 2003 about producing a unique type of CD but it wasn’t until 2005, did they actually start in the studio. Rick of course, was working his magic with cord progressions and clever lyrical lines that for the most part, have hidden meaning in them.
Rick McLaughlin has been writing music for over 30 years and has had success on a local level but with the advent of his new CD Towerside Over hitting the music scene, he has put together a sound that has taken Canada by storm and is doing phenomenally well in the European market place.
With clever writing and a professional style, he has compiled an incredible line of hit songs of Pop/Rock music. Rick attributes most of his musical sounds and catch phrase lyrics from life’s experiences, the advents going on around him and of course, his first love.
He not only has a talent for writing but surprisingly he was a medic with the military and has a Masters degree in Advanced Computer Science’s and a PhD.
in Philosophy. He has been overhead to say that these are his little hobbies when taking a break from music. John Roles, who produced the CD, has played with top named bands such as Chilliwack and Gerry Doucett (to name but a few).
His stage presents is electrifying as all of his fans will attest to. Although, as he puts it “I claim to be dead, and this should help to immortalize my music! Actually, I’m not dead… just resting”!
