Ricky Husbands brings a unique and vibrant cross-cultural energy to the music scene,the product of numerous years of exposure to distinct styles and rhythms (Reggae ,Samba ,Soca, Ballads and Funk among others.)Born in Georgetown Guyana to carribean immigrants ,his introduction to music was through his local church where the gospel music awakened not only his ability to sing but to perform as well.It was in this comfort zone of music and audience that Ricky's professional career began to blossom.Later traveling in his native land ,in neighboring Suriname ,French Guiana and Brasil ,coupled withexposure to many prominent and acclaimed artists ,he assimilated styles and rhythms of many distinct cultures and has translated these through his own personality into music which taps the chords in the listener's hearts and minds. It all started when Ricky met Vibert Arron drummer/producer of the Ambassadors Band ,invited to participate in a fund raising event Ricky won the hearts of the crowd .After some time with Ambassadors ,Curtis MG'S ,Family Affairs and Vikings Ricky was invited by Rukiza Okera to record some original songs .Guyana had no professonal studio at that time so they departed toSuriname and with the help of Wilfred "Febbo" Febuary they recorded withProducer Antoon Sang Agang of the Ventu Studios "Blowing Hot &Cold" success in Suriname ,Holland ,French Guiana and Guyana .In 1987 -89 Ricky toured Brasil with Duehsmo Syndicate first in Maranhâo ,Rio de Janeiro ,Sao Paulo ,Brasilia and Salvador . Returning to Brasil in 1990 this time as a solo artist Ricky met Cesar Napoli /producer who was recording Jimmy Cliff's Breakout album he was invited to sing background and Cesar started producing Resolution for Ricky and Jimmy Cliff was requested to paticipate on Harder Now which was ..1 hit on MP3.COM in 2000 for 2 months .After working with Mr. Cliff for seven years as an opening act ,keyboard player and background vocalist in1997 Ricky decided to start again on his own this time with Kiko Guedes Product specialist for Roland /Brasil and they started playing in all the shopping centers and that caught the eyes and minds of the public ,soon they where invited to perform in all important Events in Bahia and other parts of Brasil. September 13th 2003 Ricky and Kiko travelled to Albany to perform in Larkfest the largest out door festival in up state New York.Alan Macher manager/booking agent made contact with Chain Gang Music Boss Owen Flynn and soon they where recording Stepping Stone which came out in 2006 after Oneness and Justice first released in the US in 2005 .Four of these songs can be heard on XM sattelite station "The Joint" among others in the Northeastern US and Canada. Ricky has performed with renowned artists like Steel Pulse ,Denise Brown ,Yellow Man ,Jimmy Cliff ,Wailers ,Alfa Blondy ,Lazzo Matumbi ,Chiclet com Banana ,Lazo juno award winner in Canada among others.Sunsplash Brasil 96 ,Pelorinho day and night, Eco Arts festival ,Fenagro ,Legends of rasta reggae 2006 ,Carnaval Salvador Bahia with Coracâo Rastafari and Banana Reggae 2007.
