Hailing from Finsbury Park, north London, SPILLER began his journey as a Garage DJ in 2000, travelling round to various youth clubs and jumping on the turntables whenever he could. He gained respect as a local DJ and joined forces with three MCs (SIZZLA, KIEZA and NAUTIE) from the Finsbury Park and Hornsey areas. Under the name, SHALLOW SQUAD, they began to showcase their sound of hard-hitting lyrics mixed with old school Garage, Grime and Bashment any place that would have them. Reception to SHALLOW SQUAD was good and soon led to a weekly set on the pirate radio station OUCH FM. Things were going well for the Garage cru and off the back of the radio show, they started to get sets at various underground events, clubs and parties. But SPILLER was not content with the direction the group was taking and was getting sick and tired of the same poorly-produced Grime beats the MCs wanted to spit to. It all sounded the same to him and was killing off the sound he first fell in love with. He wanted out! SPILLER had always dabbled with writing lyrics but never really took it seriously. His older brother, G. BONES, was already involved in the underground Hip-Hop scene, rapping and producing tracks, so it felt like a good step for SPILLER to try his hand at it. He began learning how to produce Hip-Hop tracks with G. BONES. Finding this very rewarding, SPILLER then began to write his own lyrics so he could hear rapping on the tracks he had made. SPILLER soon found he had a natural talent and this is when he became much more serious about rapping and music in general. Drawing inspiration from the streets around him and from his personal take on life, SPILLER began to write his own songs and soon after put out his first mix tape. This was a collaboration on vocals between FEMSTAR, G. BONES and SPILLER himself, under the name AF1. The tracks produced by G.BONES, FEMSTAR and UNCLE JAY were thumping gully beats with hard- core lyrics. The reception to the mix tape was good all round and SPILLER was becoming known for his harsh punchlines and unique flows. It was around that time that SPILLER realised that this is what he wanted to do in life. He has never looked back since. Along his journey, SPILLER has worked and performed with the likes of PAPA SPRINKLES, UNCLE JAY and SUN FLOWER as well as G. BONES and FEMSTAR, to name a few. Meanwhile, SPILLER is captivating London audiences with his distinctive vocal styling. Whether performing solo or rocking stages with the AF1 team, a SPILLER show is guaranteed to be a life-altering experience.
