Artist', the talented Annie Minogue, with her rising music career:
Her album 'HOME' was released on the Nippon Crown label in Japan. Annie’s material has appeared on MTV's Real World, MSNBC, the Japanese news and in the independent feature 'Out of the Black'. Songs from my latest release 'Love Parade' are being considered for inclusion on the television shows 'Smallville' and 'Alias'. Annie had a very busy touring year, playing several high profile festivals. Some of the biggest among them were the Summerfest Music Festival, Viper Ball, Texas State Fair and Guinness Music Festival. In the past I've opened for Shawn Mullins, The Cowboy Junkies, Shane MacGowan and Dave Navarro. This year I'm scheduled to open for Jewel & Lifehouse. I also was last year’s recipient of the National Artist of the Year Award at the LA Music Awards."

Gary Hays a country artist/songwriter from Nashville, TN. He’s originally from Florida and his roots are pure country. With the influence of "pop" and other genres mixing with country music (not that that's a bad thing) He’s been told by some American labels that they love his music but he’s "Too Country"! Never thought I'd hear that I'd hear that in Nashville. He started posting his material. He’s now receiving emails from European radio stations (Belgium, Sweden, France) requesting a promo copy of his CD for airplay. They all say they are pleased to hear the "country" being put back in country music. Because of all this, He now has a song (The Wrecking Crew) being released independently in Europe and he’s planning a tour of Norway in the spring.
After Jim Robitaille showcased his excellent "To Music" it hit the top of Jazz Week's Chartbound listings.

Just 3 years ago they were 2 struggling musicians in different continents but now thanks to the power of the internet they are a duo with a big and growing following and a very bright future to look forward to both musically and personally. After hearing eachothers music they decided to do a collaboration with him playing all the instruments and producing the tracks and Anni singing. Our relationship grew we are married with a son. This has not halted things musically though....far from it. They are now firmly established with a host of chart successes for their songs and very popular. This year and last I was booked as compere for the Avalon Main stage at Glastonbury and as a perfomer for the Avalon Cafe stage, and this led on to It's Jo and Danny's Green Man Festival at Craig y Nos Castle in Brecon (http://www.thegreenmanfestival.co.uk/itinerary.html) in August, where again I was MC for the main stage and playing a set of my music!

So how did I get to play Glastonbury? Well, I have done before several times so I had contacts there and originally this happened because I was working some years ago as Robin (of Incredible String Band fame) Williamson 's secretary and I mailed the guy who had booked Robin at the time. The next time I got to play there was via another contact: author CJ.Stone (http://www.cjstone.co.uk). CJ has written about me in 4 of his books to date including 'Last of the Hippies' (Faber) and his landlady when this was due to be published happened to be working at Glastonbury Festival and in charge of booking acts. CJ put me in touch and I mailed her a copy of my album.
Rock category Jason Atkinson "has the kind of highly skilled songwriting talent that music-industry reps notice." Jason soon found opportunities in film and television, placing his song "She's All That" in an episode of MTV's Undressed. He's also composed the score for a short film by director Jeffery Cools, entitled A Thousand Words.
So, yes, the contacts have been of vital importance, and the idea of it's who you know, is correct and has been my key to getting to play there, but it has also been my sheer determination and persistence each year. I have mailed everyone I know there, I have sent in CDs, I have e-mailed every stage manager that might accept me for their stage and I have not given up trying and this year I didn't know for sure until April!

There's a full report on the festival at my site here: http://www.bardofely.com and I'd just like to add that my fave act for the entire weekend was Arthur 'God of Hellfire' Brown who gave the most amazing and energetic performance. I got to chat to Arthur backstage afterwards and was surprised to discover that he once used to live in my home town of Cardiff, many years ago when he was younger and in a choir of all things!

From our cramped bedsit in the centre of Bristol, UK, we have gone from
producing music for our own pleasure, to producing music for the masses
(well, they're masses to us!), on several different web sites. Although
we still have a lot to learn, we have reached no.1 spots several times
in different genres, and had our tracks listened to by more people than
we first envisaged.
Jen Foster has gone on to produce two great albums. The Texas-born songwriter performs about 80 shows a year and has opened for Sophie B. Hawkins, Crash Test Dummies and Lisa Loeb.
The plus for us, is that we are now getting the chance to work with
other people all over the world via the Internet, and producing
memorable tracks for future use as demos.
Lisa Housman as "dazzling" and "remarkably originals". "It was incredibly helpful to get that kind of validation early in my career," says Lisa. Lisa now performs with songwriter Dave Falk and together they've shared festival stages with such noted performers as Kris Delmhorst, Carrie Newcomer, Christine Lavin, and Dave Carter & Tracy Grammar.
How did we do it? Sheer determination, supporting other people, and the
SYM Internet oppotunity!
