Hello, my name is Marc Hawkins and I am a songwriter hailing originally from Birmingham but now relocated to Cornwall. My involvement in music began in the heady days of punk rock when, as a fifteen year old, I played drums for a local and very short lived punk band called THE LIMPS. A few years later I joined a band called RIGHTS RESERVED as percussionist and we spent a great three years playing pubs and clubs around the Midlands area. When RIGHTS RESERVED disbanded I co-founded another very short lived project called THE UGLY BIRDS. I left music alone for a while after that and began writing stage and screen plays, turning down a job as in-house writer for a well established Islington theatre to return to further education to study graphic art and visual communications. In the very last years of the 1990's I formed a folk rock combo called GREENSMITH and began writing and recording songs again. Then in 2002 I formed STRAYDOG and it is under this banner that I now write and record my songs with the invaluable help of Sim Green on backing and occasionally lead vocals. Although I play all instruments on most of my tracks I also, from time to time, call on the services and skills of other musicians to lend a hand, namely Mark Kelly (former RIGHTS RESERVED band mate) and AnnMarie Rijswijk and Adrian Smith.
The STRAYDOG album "This Could Be The End Of Summer" will be completed mid December.
