Biography
Terrence Brown has watched his 9 year professional music career blossom right before his very eyes. It all began in 1998 when he joined the Collective Voices Saxophone Ensemble headed by Mr. Odean Pope. This particular group was not only a working band but also proved to be a conservatory, that instilled quite a depth of musical knowledge. It was there that he learned all the advanced theoretical concepts that allowed him to put all of the pieces together.
In his relatively short career, he is already known as one of the best young saxophonists in Philadelphia; having performed with such greats as Benny Golson, Max Roach, Michael Brecker, James Carter, Eddie Green, Joe Lovano, Butch Ballard (Legendary drummer who was a member of the Duke Ellington & Count Basie Big Bands), Carl Grubbs, and of course Odean Pope, just to name a few.
Now, currently residing in the Germantown section of Philadelphia, Terrence performs with the Odean Pope Saxophone Choir, The Sun Ra Arkestra, his own group (The Terrence Brown Quartet) consisting of John Icaro - Piano, Blake Meister - Bass, and Wayne Wesley- Drums, as well as other various artists in the area. In addition to his busy work schedule, Terrence makes the time to invest greatly in Philadelphia's musical youth by teaching music lessons, during the week, at Philly's renown Clef Club.
In addition to his rigorous teaching schedule, Terrence is working on a new project which houses the more popular musical styles like nu-jazz, neo soul, hip-hop, easy listening and pop. He also has recently finished his first single titled "G's On It" from his forthcoming CD entitled "Guess Who", so look for it soon in stores near you.
