Kim and TJ definitely have their own style. You're either into it or not. Known for creating wicked four-part chords, the music Kim creates tends to be a neo-soul type with a touch of Hip Hop and strong influences from Jazz and classic R&B rhythms. It should be noted that Kim mainly prefers to be behind the scenes as songwriter/composer of various music genres and has no aspirations for fame and stardom. TJ is helping with this project but has a another successful career in medicine. But the story behind this dynamic duo is as follows: one day while in the car, Kim and TJ hit the scan button to find a song that fit their mood. There was a song about "car rims, gold and platinum teeth, and I do believe something about a stripper." There were also multiple songs about parties and dancing. Needless to say, a CD was played. While we both grew up poor, struggled and overcame many obstacles, we found it hard to believe that we could not find a song that connected to us at this point in our lives. With the exception of a few wonderful mainstream artists, it was apparent that the music we had grown up listening to had not grown up with us. Looking for subject matter that was not teen oriented was difficult to find within the urban popular radio rotation. While the two of us understand the way the industry works today, we can't help but feel like a forgotten group of potential consumers. Too young to always want to listen to old school, too old to want to listen to songs about gold teeth and rims, and too urban to always want to hear jazz. Given the music background each of us had, we decided to make the music that each of us wanted to hear while hopefully taking others with us on the wonderful journey of self- discovery and reflection.
