It all began two years ago, when bassist James Parks and keyboard artist Curtis Parks were jamming in James’ studio. These two decided to take their show on the road and called themselves 20/40 which alluded to their ages at the time. After adding drummer Devin Linebarger , the group transformed into Driven. James Parks began his music career in gospel, having shared the stage with such powerhouse groups as The Canton Spirituals and The Gospel Keynotes. He has toured with these and other bands and got his start with a group of family members called the Disciples for Christ where he played bass and sang first tenor. Curtis Parks began wailing away on his mother’s old upright piano at the age of 7. Shortly afterwards, he began playing in the church and a keyboard genius was born. He describes his playing as classical jazz having an affair with hip-hop, and was influenced by all the old-school hip-hop and jazz and funk records. Rounding out the group is percussionist Devin Linebarger who began playing the drums years ago, learning his chops in the church choir he brings a youthful, in the pocket, presence to the group. After the first jam session with this band, lightning struck and the spark was there for a potentially great fusion of many different styles of music, each member brings a flavor or color of style to the band : Jazz, Gospel, Blues, Rock, Pop this may be sometimes hard to tame but it tends to have a dynamic that is contagious, and sometimes “Off The Chain” as James puts it. The band has worked as a studio band for recording a gospel artist and is currently recording their first album of primarily original material. The Band Name “Driven” means determined and dedicated, which we believe is what describes us best! And we are glad to add one of the best guitar players i've heard in a long time you'er a God sent RON THE MAN ARTIS!!!!!!! ENJOY!!!!!!
