Biography
Born in Longbeach,CA in 1989, rapper Dayne "Young Prize" Rivers, moved to the small but tough city of RockHill,SC. He and his mom moved into a neiborhood called The Glenns. Part of the Southland Park community. Growing up in Southland, Young Prize learned a lot about the streets and what the streets where about. He was a very smart and energetic child. Had lots of friends and was easy to get along with. Usually made A's and B's throughout elementary school. Once he entered jr. high school, he picked up the hobby of rapping. He was always into hip-hop, just never tried it himself. He paterned his rhyming skills after the likes of Nas, DMX and Tupac, who at his young age of 11, were his favorite rappers. He usually copied most of their lyrics in his rhymes, substituting his own words in between. Knowing that this was not a good way to be rapper he decided to try to come up with all of his own words. He spent time in the library reading rhyming dictionaries, while at the same time listening to his favorite artist for influence. At the age of 14, he started coming into his own. Listening to mixtapes from artist like Fabolous, and Cassidy, he started incorprating metaphors in his rhymes. Un-common for a southern artist at the time. His peers grew fond of the slick word play in his rhymes and started to respect his skill. As he got older, his confidence grew. Once he enterd high school he started battle rapping. Defeating his opponents fairly easily. He grew popularity and respect through out his highschool career. By his Jr. year he was at the point where he knew that rapping was his only ticket out of the streets, and the one thing he knew that he could be a success at doing. He started going to the studio often, and recording mixtapes. By this time, he was considerd one of the best rappers in his city of over 60,000 residents. With the release of his most recent material, Hustla Music Vol:2, his well regarded as the single best rapper in his city, and maybe even the state of South Carolina. With comparisons in his voice and rhyming skill to artist like Lil'Wayne, Fabolous, and Boosie, his popularity is growing everyday. At the age of only 18, theres few of his generation with the talent and skill he has. He seems way before his time with lyrics like "AK dash 4, 7/ like 4 reverends i can teach 4 lessons/ 4 dogs bark hope they got 4 weapons/ the 44 hitem' then i jus for gettem'/" -Shot Guns and Berretas. And he sounds like he's already one of the greats with lyrics like "I will never cry cuz pride boostin my high/ my music's being my guide so Prize will never die/ But Dayne will probably pass today and whither away but,/never will he die in vain, cuz nigga rain'll poor for 40 days and wash away all the haters/ and devoir all the beef with 50 foot alligators/-Lucifer. Its only a matter of time before the world nows how gifted the Prize really is. Stay tuned.
