ZaCairo was born as Guillermo F. Maatsen on the 28th of October 1987 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. He grew up with 2 different cultures, his mother came from The Netherlands (Europe) and his father from Suriname (South-America).
Z. grew up with a lot of different types of music, from Earth, Wind & Fire, Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson and Prince to Tupac, Notorious B.I.G., SnoopDogg etc. Because of the fact his father was a DJ in a local neighbourhood centre there was always music playing around ZaCairo.
At the age of six his parents broke up and Z. and his mother moved to Almere (A-Sub), another place in The Netherlands. When he became thirteen ZaCairo wrote some things on a paper about how he was feeling that time, from that day he started to write lyrics. But only at the age of sixteen he was convinced that he wanted to make it in the music industry.
Junior (a good friend of ZaCairo) hooked him up with his first show in 2003 at a "Freedom Festival". Many peoples thought that ZaCairo (that time he was know as "Diamond") was an artist that was already in this game for a while. Although it was his first show he knew how to put a good show together. That day gave him the motivation to do everything for his music.
A couple of months later Z. came in contact with Brownie Dutch (a member of Blaque Flamez) that wanted to drop a mixtape with a lot of mc's out of A-Sub, including ZaCairo. They hooked up together but never made that mixtape, because they were just fooling around and were getting to know each other better. Brownie introduced Z. to all the members of Blaque Flamez and after a while ZaCairo became a part of it. They recorded a track called "What Chu Need' and that one was a big hit on the streets, they even had a interview on television at Urban Lifestyle on The Box.
Before they made some big steps, ZaCairo decided to go on by his own. At that time Z. was thinking about letting music behind him, but the peoples around him told him that it would be crazy to let his talent go so he started a new group with his friends Frankstarr, Haze & Game Ova called "Diz Trikt". Three elements together, two mc's, one producer & one DJ. They made two tracks together "The Way I Feel About Chu" & "Tee's, Caps & Kicks", but never dropped them cause Frankstarr and Haze didn't wanted to do this rap thing anymore. Frankstarr and Haze were to busy with remixing "The Black Album" of Jay-Z. Although Z. thought he was on his own again Game Ova called him up and told him that whatever steps Z. would make Game Ova would be right there. So it was ZaCairo, Game Ova and his I-Don't-Give-A-Fuck-Anymore attitude.
Summer 2006 Z. started his recording sessions with his homeboy Kella Black for his first tape called "The Neighbourhood FlyGuy". This tape had 5 tracks including a diss-track called "Part-Time Mc's" (a special one for all the mc's that wasn't taking Hiphop seriously). ZaCairo received a lot of good reactions about this song and came in contact with a lot of new producers. And that's how he came in contact with Ill-D & A-Star (ILL PRODUCTIONS). ILL PRODUCTIONS made a couple of beats for ZaCairo so they could get more exposure. Because they had the same vision ZaCairo sujested to make a whole tape together. So they worked like 4 months on his new tape called "Stop The !%@&#$* Press!".
On this moment ZaCairo is very busy with promoting his second tape "Stop The !%@&#$* Press!" and is already working on a third tape. Hopefully this time he finds a good manager and he could get a recorddeal someday
