Pavement Candy are a 3-piece original indie band based in Tokyo, Japan. Members: Grant Duncan (Bass/vocals) David Jackson (drums/vocals) & Matt Chong (guitar). The group performed an all-original set with contributions from guitarist Duncan, and performed on the Tokyo live curcuit from 2004-2009. The band is centred around guitarist/vocalist Duncan & drummer/vocalist Jackson and the pair often appeared live as a duo. In December 2005, the group released their first full-length album PAVEMENT CANDY, and then Duncan and Jackson recorded a large number of original demos that formed the basis of the next 2 albums and tracks for live gigs. Gavin MacDonald replaced Mark Whiteman in the line up and the bands first performance under the new line-up was a successful 2-day stint at a Girls School Festival in Sept 2007. This prompted a steady stream of live gigs in Shibuya & Roppongi throughout the remainder of 2007 through to March 2008. The band also returned to the studio in October 2007 in Tokyo to record their second album CYAN AURA which was released on December 30 2007. Duncan left Japan in April 2008 after the rush recording of the bands 3rd and final album, RACE AGAINST TIME in March 2008, but there were further gigs in both Mar & Nov 2009 when the boys were all back in Tokyo. In Nov 2014, Duncan & Jackson went back into the studio in Tokyo & recorded backing tracks for 6 new songs. An extended 6-track EP 'Thru the Maze' was released in January 2015. In October 2015 the band re-convened and began rehearsing in Tokyo with Matt Chong who previously performed with Grant in The Audio Justice, joining on guitar and Grant moved to bass.
