Bio
Ever seen someone who looks like a future star; who’s destined for success? Well you have to put Detroit's own D.R. somewhere in that category. Starting from his young childhood days up to his more mature days, 21 year old D.R. has always been known for his musical skills. Influenced by R&B artists such as Babyface, R. Kelly and Usher, he started off singing in front of small groups of his peers just for fun then moved on in singing in his middle school talent shows to showcase his vocal talent. Even though he did not come in 1st place, he noticed that the crowds liked what they seen in him. The young man already had huge dreams of making it big in the music world and that gave him motivation to pursue them. He immediately tried to find out what it took to be a world wide singer. But when D.R. (back then named "Finesse" because of his calm yet smooth singing style) turned 13 his voice started to change and gradually got deeper. Not having much confidence in his "new voice", he felt like his dreams were shot. But still having the love for music and the desire to make music, D.R. took another route and decided to start rapping. Some people started passing out compliments about his new style of music and others down talked him and both responses were motivation. He wrote his first song titled "Be a Man" at the age of 16 and went from there. Now instead of him being known for his smooth singing, the lyricist is known for his smooth metaphoric style of rap. Having the new influences in rappers such as Notorious B.I.G., Fabolous, Detroit’s own Eminem and many, many more D.R. is making a statement to all the none believers. Having the desire to do what it takes but yet still not trying to have a negative image musically or personally, D.R. is currently in a community college to gain more knowledge of music and its history. Also working not just to pay for studio time but so he can have his own studio. Over the years D.R. has grown physically and mentally and has been on many other up and coming musician songs and has grown to be the "go-to-guy" and known to be the "Music Man". BIRTH OF "D.R." The name D.R. which stands for Detroit Representer came into play in 7th grade when he attended a school in Mt. Clemens, MI. Seeing how he always wore Detroit “gear” and being one of the few students from Detroit they nicknamed him the "Detroit Representer". Since it did define his style he took the name D.R. and ran with it. The Music Stylings of D.R. In a world filled with ‘copy’ cats, D.R. is truly an original! What makes his style so unique and creative is his ability to place “catchy” hooks and metaphoric lines that keeps his audience at the edge of their seats by verbally painting them a picture with every verse; which makes him a true artist! He prides himself as a true ‘lyricist’/musician and not merely a rapper!
