YMI is a hard-edged alternative rock band comprised of these key elements: harmony, melody, rhythm, emotion and energy. Citing Hendrix to Morrissey to Van Halen as influences, YMI strives to create a sound that screams originality. Formed in 1992 by Baris Adil and Johnnie Page, YMI had a new sound in the region. Strong vocal melodies and hard driving guitar riffs combined with catchy lyrical and rhythmic hooks turned heads quickly in the scene. Recording their first demo, Uninvited Welcome, in the winter of 1994 gained the attention of a division of Polygram Records but member issues and a split up of Adil and Page would extinquish the deal before it started. Regrouping four years later with several players in the area, Adil and Page were focused. They were centered. They had matured. Well, a little bit. They meticulously weeded through the hundreds of songs they’d written together. Baris explains, “The whole scene was totally alien to us, so we had to start fresh and find our niche again.” YMI released their debut album The Otherside in November 2005. The album was supported by a national radio campaign and hit Top 30 rotation in several markets, establishing YMI as an up and coming regional act again. But member changes plagued them again. YMI has had several incarnations over the years. Now the two core members along with bassist, Joe Covello, and seasoned drummer Rick Jermain are ready to record and release their sophomore project. There is no scheduled release date for the new album but two new singles Mess of a Man and Compulsion are now available online. The new line up is planning to hit the studio mid June 2009. YMI has kicked off a buzz that is snowballing on the music scene. So check them out at www.ymi3.com. [p][/p]

[p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]
