Bio
The Roc Music Group is a music production and artist development company that was formed in 2002 by several local music producers in Rochester, New York. The music production company was formed to further promote the local r&b and hip-hop scene and to showcase some of the hottest talent in upstate New York. Music producers Paul Boutte’, Tony Simmons, David Cromwell, Dorian Cromwell, and Roy Battle decided that the company should represent the city’s overall talent but to operate as a major force in the music industry. The idea was to bring the music industry to upstate New York as opposed to upstate New York going to the music industry. With that in mind, everything from the music production, to the songs, to the artist performances had to be above average and compatible to what was being played on urban radio and in videos. Henceforth, a movement began… The Roc Music Group secured a joint venture and major independent distribution deal with west coast company, Hitman Records and Distribution. The first release from the new joint venture was The Roc Music Group Presents: Tha Album, which was a compilation of the artists that were signed to the music production company. The album spawned several hot singles on urban and college radio stations and soon became a number one album in the Rochester area. The second full album release was that of urban contemporary gospel artists, Divine Nature, titled The Fullness Of Joy. Their album also spawned singles that hit number one on urban radio. Roc Music artist performances and showcases soon followed and the company was then offered business propositions to produce and manage live performances for the many City of Rochester sponsored music entertainment events. Those events included The Rochester MusicFest, The PeaceFest, The GospelFest, The Main Game, and the Beach Bash. From those ventures in giving back to the community and the youth, Roc Music formed the Roc Music Business 101 music program. Teaming up with the In-Control Youth Service(s), Roc Music teaches inner-city teens about the fundamentals of the music industry, music production, and sound recording. The Roc Music Group are currently producing music for local, independent, and national recording artists. They’ve had the opportunity to produce songs for EMI Gospel recording artists Kierra “KiKi” Sheard (remix album: Just Until… featuring “All I Am” and “The Sweetest Thing”) and Antonio Neal (album: Days Of My Life featuring “So Good”), Sony Music recording artist Frankie J (album: “Estar Atu Lado” ), and Goatee Records recording artist DJ Maj (album: BoogieRoot featuring “Universal Appeal” and “Soul Window”). Roc Music has also produced a song on EMI Gospel released compilation, Praise Life (featuring “The Only One” remix featuring Lisa McClendon). The Roc Music Group are currently working with R.L. from Next, Coko and SWV, Lil’ Mo, and on the next Kierra “KiKi” Sheard album. They’ve also produced music for MTV’s “MADE”, Sean “P Diddy” Combs’ “Making of the Band II”, and several of BET’s news programs. The Roc Music Group share major music and business influences, such as Thomas “The Maestro” Whitfield, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, Rodney Jerkins, L.A. Reid & Babyface, Clive Davis, Derek “DOA” Allen, Russell Simmons, and Sean “P Diddy” Combs. But they hope to soon one day give the same influence to up and coming musicians and producers that they have greatly received. Roc Music hopes to become a very positive force in the music industry and entertainment world abroad. With the desire, talent, and ability to persevere no matter what the circumstances, they will make it happen. ROC MUSIC 4 LIFE!!!!
