Bio
S.D. is a 21 year old with a passion for music. Reppin Vacaville, California, this young lyricist has been writing rhymes since he was 9 years old. Acquiring his style from that pure West Coast fire, he has worked hard at mastering his craft. Until recently hip-hop was a hobby for S.D. but he has discovered a knack for what it takes to make good music and has engaged in pursuing a career in the industry. S.D. was born in Concord, CA on October 31, 1985. After growing up in Vallejo for the first 5 years of his life, he moved with his family to Vacaville. From an early age, S.D. became a fan of the hip-hop industry. He used to sit in his room for hours just listening to music and writing his own raps to songs that he would hear on the radio. His father passed away when he was 9 years old, and it was hard for him growing up without his presence. Without a father figure in his life, S.D. lost what was once a good relationship with his mother and began relying on himself to get through the daily struggles in life. By dealing with his problems independently, it made him an even stronger individual. He was able to vent and deal with his emotions through the art of poetry, more specifically hip-hop. Watch out for him as he is definitely a talented young rapper. He has many catchy punch-lines and original lyrics as well as production skills, which all adds to his quality as an artist. S.D. is currently working on his debut album "21 & Under". "Basically the album is a reflection of my life and my experiences as well as a blend with what I'm doing in the present. I just turned 21 so I felt like the title really fit the content of the album. It covers me from beginning to now; hence the name 21 & Under." Production will mainly be handled by S.D. (9), but will also feature tracks by Stix in the Mix (3), MikeSheist (2), Young Venom (1) & BG (1). Guest artists include BQ, Agile, Cap, Mr. Big, J. Deez, Mac Beana, Manic, XL Middleton, Richelita, D-Caldwell, and Young Zo (ALL CALIFORNIA UP&COMING ARTISTS). Along with the album, will be a bonus disc of 7 unreleased tracks with local artists featured on every song. The bonus disc songs will be up for download from S.D.'s myspace page. "I felt like this bonus disc was a good way to show people what we have out here, as far as artists are concerned. We are in such a competitive market in Northern California that it takes alot for an individual to get his shine." Six out of the seven tracks on the bonus disc are produced by S.D. as well. "This entire project really shows off just what I can do as an emcee as well as a producer. I don't have all the fancy equipment and high budget that alot of other cats have, so that's why I am so proud of the product that I have put together." The release of "21 & Under" should be June 20th of 2007 so check back for more details and an official - OFFICIAL release date. In addition to his debut solo project, S.D. is in the process of finishing up a group album with fellow 8thStarr crew member, BQ. The project, entitled: "BQ & S.D. Present: Tha Crockpot", is set to drop around the same time as both BQ and S.D.'s solo albums. "Basically we wanted to slap the world with our music in 2007 to let people know how hungry we are and that we are ready to take our music to the next level." All the production for the group will be handled by the 8thStarr family and really shocases the best of their production members as well. "We really have a great core here with 8thStarr Entertainment. We are basically a close-knit group of artists and producers and we felt collectively that for our first group project that we should keep it in the fam to give cats a good taste of what we bring to the table." "Tha Crockpot" is a blend of whatever came to mind at the time the group hit the lab. It has club bangers to tracks directed toward the ladies, to tracks that the duo straight shows their lyrical superiority on the mic. Stay tuned for an official release date to the group album. After competion of "Tha Crockpot", S.D. has lined up another album in the works, solely produced by upcoming superstar, Da Magician. It will be looked at as more of a tag-team effort as the two plan on working very closely together on each and every song for the project. "My man Da Magician is a diamond in the rough right now. He is basically just getting in the game and nobody has really been able to hear what he can do. He is one of the most versatile producers I have come across in my short career. Not only is he a beast on the beats, but he's a good friend so I really look forward to seeing what we come up with." The first track to their upcoming project is the street single "Getcha Right Back" and can be found here on S.D.'s page for the time being. Check back for an official track-listing and a release date for this upcoming project, projected to release early 2008.[code]
