Mamajuana' was 2001 Best Dominican New Artist, nominated to 2002 Premios Lo Nuestro Univision for Best Tropical Group and Pre-nominated to 2004 Grammy awards. Mamajuana is the first Dominican Band to ever perform in China. Assembled by Dominican composer/arranger Eddi González, Mamajuana includes a singer from Santiago de los Caballeros and one from Orlando Florida. Mamajuana (name of an exotic and aphrodisiac beverage) combines Afro-Caribbean and contemporary rhythms with romantic lyrics. Their self-titled debut album, released by Sony International, featured the hit singles "Mamasota" and "Sin Un Beso Suyo."
