microphone STAND is a one man gang, located in the former mining town of Coalville, North West Leicestershire. microphone STAND has existed for a number of years, however the current direction was a cummulative process, with earlier songs being much more tradtional guitar rock. The band has evolved gradually away from this style, to a more avant-garde take on pub/singer-songwriter music. microphone STAND is arguably Leicester's most unique band: described in one review as "Aphex Twin gone lo-fi in bed with Neil Young". Influences range from Radiohead and Spiritualized, through to proto-industrial pioneers Faust and jazz greats, in particular the works of Alice Coltrane. microphone STAND has received favourable reviews from a number of publications across the independent music sector (as well as some baffled ones). microphone STAND is currently working towards the completion of a first album, set for release at the end of 2007.
