History Marlon Urdelas and Resty Concepcion came up with the idea of forming Kinetic Daze back in 2003. Coming from their respective underground grunge bands in the 90s, they decided to shift to the alternative rock genre to give way to ear-friendly rock music. At this stage, they invited Jerome Azarcon (bass) and Daryl (drums) to complete the line-up. But the latter had to leave the band to pursue a career elsewhere. The band then tapped Ley Gomez around late 2005 to fill the vacated spot, and he has been their permanent drummer since then. Their music It’s alternative. It’s rock! Early on in their career as Kinetic Daze, they would perform cover songs from their musical influences namely; Incubus, Dishwalla, Lifehouse, Coldplay, Gin Blossoms and Collective Soul in various venues in Metro Manila. This paved the way to being known as one of the upcoming alternative rock bands in the country. Now, to set them apart from everyone else, the boys took time to write their own songs. They came up with songs about their experiences in life, love and everything in between (not in that particular order). Each lyric is carefully written with veracity akin to Kinetic Daze – a fresh and energetic sound that never ceases to amaze its listeners. The result, ordinary experiences turned into songs with melodic spur that makes listeners stop, listen, and want more of their music. Their 2005 hits “Sayang Lang” and “Watching the Sun”, gained considerable airplays over at NU 107 and JAM 88.3 respectively and the latter landed at number 4 in the KINSE OPM countdown. One song after the other, their originals captured the fancies of the 90’s alternative rock aficionados, gathering a humble fan base along the way. As Kinetic Daze grace every possible venue in town, acoustic bars (when it was still a hit), rock gigs at bars, big venues, radio guestings and live TV appearances, they carefully claimed a spot in the Philippine music industry. In March 2005, they guested at the MTV Siesta performing their song “She’s so Fine”. That same year they were also at the 8.3’s Jam Sessions for an hour-long live studio performance. And recently, they hit the big stage when they were picked to be part of some of the biggest musical events in the country —- Fete Dela Musique (2005), JAM 88.3 Music Fest (2006), San Miguel Oktoberfest (2006), and UPLB Feb Fair (2006). This year they released the first single, ALAY, off of the upcoming album. It can now be heard over Monster Radio 93.1’s Indie Ground and JAM 88.3’s Local Licks. Now on its fourth year, the band continues to play at gigs everywhere in order to let their music be heard and enjoyed by more music fans. As to where they’re at right now, is the fruit of their talents, hard work and support from their loyal fans and friends. Kinetic Daze is now on the latter part of the recording process and soon enough they will be ready to release their debut album.
