Bio
701 KLIK is based out of Fargo, ND. Members are, "CHARLIE MIZZA" (from Fargo), and "JACOB LADDA" who hails from the dirty Oklahoma City. Started their self-produced demo in May of 2006 with nothing more than remedial production software and a "cheap sh..@y mic", hence the name of the demo, "3 Dolla Mic", which can be found in various local music shops and Limewire thanks to the usual cheapskate bullshit. Their upcoming major release, "The Midwest Movement", is slated to drop September 4, 2007, and many of their songs can be found at WWW.BROADJAM.COM/701KLIK, NAPSTER.COM, EMUSIC.COM, and I-TUNES. Charlie Mizza is the man behind the music in the duo. Since Charles Ryan Mauk was a youngster he has always had a natural ear for music. From starting off playing alto saxophone and guitar in his teens, his ear grew sharper and sharper. As a seventh grader, instead of practicing the assigned songs for band class, he spent most of his time trying to add what he could with what he had to classic joints like "Gin and Juice" by Snoop Dogg, and "Let Me Ride", by the one and only Dr. Dre. "I was probably the only white kid in junior high sportin' Cross Color Jeans and listenin to Doggystyle", he says. "People used to call me a 'wigger' or use the "N" word around me. Shit really used to piss me off..........got in lots of fights growin up." As he grew older, brushes with the darker side of life drew him away from his passions, and eventually his very freedom. After Meeting Jacob Thomas (a.k.a., Jacob Ladda) in 2005, the flame of rap music was rekindled inside him with late night freestyle sessions and reminising about "The Old Skool" of rap. "We just clicked immeadietly. I think the dynamics of our different flows is what really makes us what we have become, and what we're gonna be in the future," says Mizza. "He's a product of the Dirty South, and I got that west-coastish, "I don't give a fuck" kinda rythym like what I grew up listening to." Since then, after many scriblings on notebook pages and thousands of dollars (a strong five figures) of the right equipment, 701KLIK has most definately broke their cherry in the rap game, and have bigger venues coming up all the time. The Midwest Movement promises to be the official icon of the North's rap game. INFLUENCES: MIZZA: Grew up on the west coast sound, but loves the Roots.
