Andy, Rich and Joel were brought up in the same church. (Wellingborough Christian Centre). Rich and Joel were playing music together when they were 11. At that time they were involved in leading worship at the W.C.C.Youth Group, and they also played in the Sunday worship band. Rich was 14 when he started writing songs. He teamed up with Joel to form a band. Andy was invited to play bass with them along with two friends, Seth and Tom, who played keys and percussion respectively. The band “Fusion” was formed in 2001. Fusion played numerous local gigs and recorded a CD of the songs they had written in 2002. After a while the band started to pull away from the image that Fusion had developed. They renamed themselves “Incursion” and wrote songs with an altogether edgier sound that had developed over the years. In 2003 Incursion recorded a demo of the songs they were playing in their live sets. When Rich left to go to university, the band decided to regroup and re-evaluate what it felt was important. They started writing again, producing some of their most mature and well-written songs to date. They decided to introduce on bass Simon, a good friend of Rich’s from Cambridge. They recorded the 3-track CD entitled “Awaken” under the new band name of “Broken Hero”. “Awaken” represents a new birth for a band that has matured and which now has the drive, passion and commitment to succeed.
