Hi there. My name is Mick Masser and you may be familiar with my activities as frontman and songwriter with Izon Paradise from Sheffield,uk. This showcase is about my wider activities which encompass many different genres. It is often said that my music is extremely difficult to categorise and I am grateful of this because it proves to me that it is honest and true. The essential ingredient to what I have produced over the years is the lyrics and I regard myself as a singing poet. I am also an arts graduate and my spell further to being dragged onto a degree has left me with a slight taste for experiment. I am delighted that sym.com gives me the opportunity to operate within my own parameters and present you with a rather eclectic and experimentally, diverse set of songs and themes that I have developed over the time including 'music to the film' which wrote the script as I created the songs (of course there is no film at all) and 'common scenarios of quite a strange man' which deals with the idiosynchratic you!!!. This one I am particularly proud of because it was recorded on an analogue 4 track tape recorder with some very, very careful prep to maintain quality. You will appreciate this I am sure when you hear it. I began my musical life listening to Rossini and the like and eventually became a snotty teenager forming a punk band at 16. My songwriting talent was identified by someone else who encouraged me to diversify and attempt to secure mainstream publication. Unemployed and unable to finance the promotion required to do this, I turned back to performing but not before I had collected some OK stuff the likes of which I may well place in this showcase from time to time. All of this said, I always try to keep my options open and where a theme is appropriate ,the songs filter through to my band which does tend to operate to a theme particularly with regard to the lyrics.
