Paul (born December 23, 1978 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania), best known as Torch, also known as Paul Papers, is an independent rap artist viewed as the total package with his commanding on-stage presence, explosive lyrics and vigorous performances -all qualities, that makes Torch the perfect prospect and a solid investment in the entertainment industry. A West Philadelphia native, his music influence came from his father who was a DJ and bass player in the 1970’s. His rap style is vivid giving his listeners a visual picture of his experiences. Like E. F. Hutton, when Torch raps people listen. While controlling the Microphone, he likes to get the crowd involved so they feel a connection to the music and his performance. Managing his own production team and engineers, Torch produced three mixed tapes one in 2005 (Prospect I), 2006 (Fix Your Face) and 2007 (Prospect II). In July 2007, he performed the first track off Prospect II (Dig this) for Lil Wayne on “The Making the Next Hit” TV show auditions. This performance got him an interview with Larry Larr (host of “Beyond the Music”) in August 2007. He also performed at Club Samba in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for Joey Zaza’s (a radio personality from 103 the beat radio station) birthday party. In addition to that, you can catch him on stage every other Tuesday at Club Fluid. Stephanie Bright, who’s the owner and publisher of Maelan Magazine, said Torch is a hot artist. He impressed me the very first time I met him”.
