It was the summer of 2001, three months before the most devastating tragedy to happen in our generation “9-11” myself, Jerry Sims alone with my lil cousin Kendrick McGhee and one my home boys Reggie Grant started our own rap group entitled “Thug Kids On The Block”. At the time we were just your average everyday rap group talking bout things we couldn’t Show for but in do time we gained respect from some of our close peers. We were tight in our own mind but we still needed that extra edge , good thing I had another home boi by the name of Jason Sloan, who quite nice at making beats wit using his hands, And with dat combination we felt unstoppable, but as time rolled on, school and personal lives came between the group, not allowing everybody to practice together, so we had to assume other options like getting new members and dropping old ones. At a time I felt as if I was the only one that could rap, but seeing as it may, Jason had a lil bit of of hidden talent, so I worked with him to create a style for himself. A couple of years rolled by and Jason started to catch up to speed with me. And the train to superstardom started to get a lil closer to Brooks County. We even mixed it up by collaborating with some of Quitman’s local artist just to see where we stood and what we needed to work on. Thru tough times we were unable to record songs that we had written cuz we didn’t know where to go, but with the help of some local artist from around the way we hooked up with Keep It Gangsta Recordz and Fresh Entertainment ran by Allen Mitchell Aka Soulja X bka Fresh and his brother Torry Mitchell aka X-Factor. By that time with a permanent position on the team Jake and I felt that it was time to drop our child hood rap name T.K.O.B. and come back with something more mature and solid. We figured that there are squads on the west coast, there are squads up north and there are squads on the east coast, but were do the most liviest most crunkiest representaz come from “The South”. Therefore we’re the squad that’s gon represent for the whole south and whatchu get is “South Squad”. Now after establishing our rep around town people started to take heed to our lyrical styles which brought us to the attention OSOL Xpressed Entertainment C.E.O Jimmy Johnson Aka Who?Dat.. Mr. Johnson, a local native of Quitman, GA too but now resides in the “A” helped us to get city wise notice by inviting us to put down on his well respected mixtapes, so as a new year rolls in we intend to keep making that fire we been bringing and light the rap game up.
