From Jamaica representing the Midlands General Kid, one of the most creative reggae/dancehall artist in the UK. General Kid was born in Jamaica but migrate to England where he continues the saga of great reggae music and pushing barriers for the music and lifestyle. Performed on major showcase in Jamaica such as Teen Splash, Tastee Contest and Portland Summer Jam alongside dancehall superstar Bling Dog, this guy is well on his way to be an icon of the industry. Maybe his success comes from the fact that he also runs a entertainment database company (Nucleus Database) and manages an independent record label (A Frat Records). In 2006 General Kid was signed to Zygo Battalion which is owned by midlands young entrepreneur Shimm1, where shimm featured on General Kid’s debut single “JUICY”. The video was a smash hit on the media waves such as MTV flux, BET, Channel U and many others and gain a lot of rating on the underground scene. General Kid is serious and as he says, he is the dancehall “golden boy” who can argue? His style is very versatile and has gained many fans, although not on typical dancehall music he is a prominent figure on midland’s dancehall vista. After coming back from a break of business, General Kid is now back in style with his new single “Loving you girl”. Very soulful and smooth, reflections of whats happening around and in pass relationship with the artist. This single is due to be released on Dec 17th 2007, which to be followed by the new year single “Turn it up” in 2008, date yet to be confirmed?
