Bio
Born James Miller - He's hungry... but not for the delicacies that can be found in the 101 chicken shacks across the crime filled streets of Newark, New Jersey where he was born and raised. He is hungry to do what he loves and that is make music for the people. He wants to nourish the souls of young and old, black, white, and purple, rich and poor, male and female and all those in between. He doesn't want to do it through glamorizing the hood and perils of street life, but does want to be the "Voice of the Streets." Hip hop artists have been doing this since the start of it all. There is no false bragging. He has suffered the consequences of his actions. He has lived among Brick City's lowest classes and made acquantances with peers that at one time gave up education to hustle. He is not going to encourage you to live righteously or lecture you through this vocal delivery and he does not just rhyme over beats. It is not just the sorrows and dark period that Heathen explores on his 2008 highly anticipated debut "Street Been Waitin" album. The compilation of his work is filled with various flavors and diverse ingredients that will sometimes express his happiness, sometimes have you rolling down your windows in the winter time, and others will make you shed a tear. Truth is after you are finished listening to the album you will "Never Be the Same Again." Heathen knows what position he has to play and knows his role in the game. He first started writing rhymes in pre-adolescence. The "Turning Point" occured when he chose to pursue basketball in college, but this gave him countless hours to develop his poisoness punchlines and flow that allows you to feel what he feels. He has never been shot or sold drugs but understands and lived in the ghetto. He has had to live the dark life to put food in his mouth and make a dollar. He has the hustler ambition and his musical dexterity will give you a real pleasure and small insight into his tale from the gutter. He laces his album with sample based arrangements in addition to live musical instruments. In a league of his own you cannot put this man in one category. He is not doing this to be famous although this debut album is going to put him in history. Always in control, always grinding, staying focused with heart and a concious effort for your listening pleasure. Heathen takes a unique approach in this early work with a wide array of guest producers. Nearly half of the songs produced by fellow Goon Toonz Ent. producer Drone are nothing short of greatness. Other notable producers including Phantom Boyz, Qwan, Analogic and Liveson of D Block provided him with crazy beats the people will appreciate. The album also features guest appearances from Kool G Rap, Grafh, Crunchy Black (Formerly of Three 6 Mafia) and Shabaam Sahdeeq. One song on his album fellow Jersey residents are sure to love is called "Whispers." Another cut dedicated to the ladies is entitled "Luv Me" featuring Valure of Fatty Koo, or the anti-love song you could say. You could also find the club banger "Wut We Rollin" with a southern twang that meets the demands of today's growing adoration for Crunk music. This 26 year old is not in this to battle or compete; Heathen simply has fun despite the sleepless nights in the studio to make good music. He wants to give you what you need and make you feel some kind of way. Ready for the world to embrace, every song so far is fire. Although he is not finished with what is on his plate right now he is already hungry for more
