I've loved music ever since i can remember... As a child i was introduced to soul music (aretha franklin, james brown...) but it wasn't before the age of 12 that i realized music could affect me in every possible way. THE revelation was when i heard a song by Mariah Carey, what a voice!! I then bought every album only to discover she wrote and co-produced all of her songs. This really encouraged me to start writing songs. While I was growing up, my songwriting skills developped but I only wanted to write in English. Problem, I'm French and back then I didn't know anything about English! Then I started to read grammar books, learn vocabulary and look up every word that I didn't know in songs I listened to. A few years later, when I kind of mastered English I bought a keyboard to create music to accompany my lyrics. Now I do it all by myself from start to finish. To me, all aspects of music are important, the mix, the lyrics, the voice... I guess it comes from listening to such good singers (M. Carey, T. Turner, C. Aguilera...) who like things perfect. I'm not saying I come close to these artists because it would be soooo not true :) but they definitely encouraged me to improve. When it comes to my voice, I feel it could develop a lot more but I managed to work it enough to extend my range to 5 octaves (thanks Mariah Carey!). While I love to use different registers, I don't think using all these octaves all the time is necessary. Whether I use the lower register or the whistle register it has to mean and convey something, no use showing off! What's important to me is having a style of my own and following my instincts. As for singing live, that's the best part. I've sung in bars and restaurants and did a few gigs where the songs were stripped down (piano & vocals only). Having the opportunity to work with a pianist was the best experience! There's nothing like sharing your music and hearing it in a whole different way... Lately I've been working on a project of songs dealing with Night, Sleep & Dreams in general. 'Under The Bed' & 'Dream Journal' are two songs from these sessions. There's more to look forward to...
