[color="darkblue"][/color][b][i][/i] Devon Yachin Ellis a.k.a. Severe "Da Ghetto Shakespeare" was born on Chicago's Southside. At an early age Severe began writing poetry and while moving from home to home between the city of Chi and the burbs, started rapping at the age of 12. During his younger years he performed in many talent shows and concerts throughout Illinois under the management of LaCarrol Ellis. At the age of 18 Severe started performing in showcases across the region, from Chi-Town to L.A., as well as performing for numerous A&R groups and labels. Along with that, Severe has also performed at many colleges and universities. In the summer of '01 Severe Da Ghetto Shakespeare released his first album, titled "My Lifestyle" which sold 4,000 copies in two years, and is widely respected in the streets. "My Lifestyle" is still available at Amazon.com. On May 30th, as a follow up to "My Lifestyle," Severe has released his latest/greatest album, which is a double-disc including 35 full length songs, and totaling 40 tracks. Entitled "Last of My Tears/Love It or Leave It," this LP features tracks from a wide range of producers met in numerous cities across America at the many hip-hop summits attended by Severe. This album is a statement; an emotional drift through Severe's reality, from the birth of his son to the death of his father. From being shot, to poverty stricken life as a child, Severe paints a vivid picture of life as he knows it, and what it takes to accomplish street success. Entitled "Determination,” his plans are to release it in the summer of 2009. Severe's long term plans are to continue establishing a name as an entrepreneur and/or signing with a major label.
