Charismatic Chicago producer /emcee PIE - RO born S. FIELDS began his trek to the top of the industry as one of the major players in the group U.N.I. (UNDERGROUND NOIZE INTELLIGENCE, An eight-part Hip-Hop crew based in Chicago.) He established his production savvy from producing for a multitude of local artist, through various engineering jobs throughout the city and while traveling abroad. In 2004 PIE-Ro established his own production / publishing company named SHKDWN79. Unlike the 90’s era of Hip-Hop that PIE - RO was inspired by and lived in, PIE - RO feels emcees today are corporate driven and industry driven as opposed to skill based and skill driven. Influenced by artist such as Common, Busta Rhymes, and Twista. His knack for rhyming came through his direct involvement and success with groups such as U.N.I., L.O.T.U.S. M.O.B. and ILLNATURE. Over the past 10 years these groups have become a very important role in the Chicago music scene through various performance and concert events. After establishing himself as a successful solo artist, he grew to become a critical favorite as well, quickly becoming known for his entertaining underground mix tape verses. The height of his success includes the nationwide release of ILLNATURES’s hit single “U KNOW WHATS UP” which was self produced in 2007. It was this single that has claimed him the position of #13 in multiple record pools around the country. PIE – RO’s mission is to bring skills and honesty back to the forefront of the Hip-Hop mainstream and the streets.
