"There are those who claim they believe in you, though won't lift a finger to assist you. I'd rather have those that believe WITH you, for they will cry/lie/die with you."- L.Land Wednesday August 13th 2008 1pm Most of the sentences to follow are basically about the same damn thing that everyone else has had to deal with coming from the hood, so please be patient. While you're reading through this, think about how many "RAPPERS" (disgusting) have half the skill in songwriting that I have (R&B, Rap, Reggae, & Rock). Re+'Verse (or +'Verse for short) is an MC/Lyricist (feeling the need to be called a lyricist, because anyone with a pre-amp, mike, and beat can rap) from Red Hook, Brooklyn. He has seen his share of adversity in life, and has risen above the toughest of challenges before him. Nearly freezing to death on the streets of Queens while homeless, to having a gun pulled on him in broad daylight while living in South Carolina (more on that later...). He writes from his heart. His topics range from anything to the struggles of growing up in a single parent household, to living the lifestyles of the utterly wealthy. Even life on the other side of the tracks in middle-of-the-road, whitebread America and what they go through. No subject is off limits, and there isn't anything in his life that he's afraid to touch on. Putting in hard work is nothing new to Re+'Verse. Having been employed everywhere from a corporate mailroom on Wall Street to your local Burger King (even Popeye's but don't tell anyone) gives him the common mans touch when it comes to expressing his thoughts in music, once saying "In bed at 1, up at 6 job or no job/You can't tell me going on tour's gonna be hard". Until he was injured at work (he can still walk so keep reading) all the extra time energy and money he had was put into making Brooklyn's nightmare a dream realized. In the area of studio time, in a professional studio, he has thus far recorded two future classics with the help of Dre Smoove. "Allegiance" (letting you know no matter where you come from, East or West Coast, it's all love, but with him in the arena, step up ya game. Wait that's not a bad song title...) and "Playing Along"(which is one of his ways to toss his hat into the race of commercial rap. Once you listen to the lyrics of the song you'll see that there is nothing about this "song" {as it is more an open letter to all MC's and Record Labels} that closely resembles anything commercial. It does however provide a funny, shocking, and thought provoking take on the type of music "rap artist" are putting out these days) are sure to be noted in hip hop history next to the classics of their day, such us but not limited to: It ain't hard to tell-Nas, Keep ya Head up-Tupac Shakur, Warning-Notorious B.I.G. and many others. He has also worked on several occasions with Un+'Real a.f.a. (also feared as) Keith Hawkins on "The Platform", "C4", and "("Simply") Nothing to it", who recently signed with Sunset Productions with Jim Beanz. He has also worked with John Boy of Music Lovers ("The Devils Laugh") and Jo Jo Hearne who's worked with Mya and Scarface ("ShowCase"). He knows that , as long as he stays true to his craft, thinks outside the box, and writes "songs" and not freestyles, that he will bring Brooklyn, along with New York Rap, back to its rightful place in the music industry. Anytime you wish to hear a sample of the next and long awaited prince of Brooklyn, e-mail him at anytime of the day or night at [email protected] If you're serious about endorsing/managing a very well rounded and polished artist who has a laser precise vision of where he is taking his career, you know where to find him.
