Bio
RIBBED were formed in the summer of 1995 after meeting through football, beer and a shared love of parsnips. At the outset the bands main objective was to play and record their own material and get their d**ks sucked (Preferably by members of the opposite sex). Unfortunately this was not allways achieved, as the A&R man from Zang Tum Tum will testify. Well recieved locally the band quickly built up a hardcore following and were regulars on the live circuit in South Wales over the next few years. Unusually they stuck to their guns, playing mainly their own material. However most pubs and clubs were obsessed with bands who were more at home on the caberet circuit but the boys never let this get in their way.Recording became an important aspect after the first few gigs and a sponsorship deal with Clarks pies quickly followed. An inevitable consequence being that the band were advised by the rep from Polydor to collectively 'lose weight' if they ever wanted to get signed. The demos kept coming (and the band kept improving) and a few samples are included here for your (hopefully) listening pleasure. Inevitably the back to back gigs at Kiwi's (Cardiff) took their toll until the bands Manager Leggy Mountbatten suddenly and tragically emigrated to Australia. As for the boys themselves, fed up of record company rejection and amps that only went up to 10 they sadly became a clog dancing quintet and moved to Leicester. Listen and enjoy. We did. PS Seriously, as the boys are still recording and writing their own material they would greatly appreciate your thoughts and comments on old and new songs alike. If you have any questions ask away. RIBBED are:- Rob Dodd - Vocals Rich Belby - Guitar/Keyboards/Vocals Grant Richards - Bass Guitar James Kent - Drums
