Bio
Biography for K-Mor (Kim-Messenger of rap) Kim grew up in a neighborhood where addicts smoked pipes in broad daylight; prostitutes worked the night and day shifts, and violence lurked around the corner waiting to claim its next victim. That violence claimed Kim at the age of 13 when she became the victim of rape. The trauma of the assault, plus other circumstances in her life such as being constantly ridiculed by classmates, moving from place to place, and living in an impoverished setting; sent Kim into a state of depression which eventually led her to consider suicide. Kim escaped from life’s problems through music. She had a natural ability to rhyme since pre-school and inspired by RunDMC’s songs Wake Up and It’s Like That; Kim wrote her first rap at the age of 16. Although some of her raps had positive lyrical content, most of them were “cap raps” filled with profanity and vulgarity, which she used to battle other rappers. In 1986, Kim met Andre, at the age of 17, and he helped her to develop a relationship with God. In 1989, not only did Kim receive the salvation of Christ, she and Andre were married. After receiving a thought provoking message from a wise woman of God, Kim was inspired to write her first gospel rap that same year at the age of 20. Kim is able to share her life experiences through her gospel rap music because she realizes that “what the enemy meant for evil, God meant it for my good- Genesis 50:19-21”. The trials that Kim has overcome, along with her creative gift from God, have given birth to her raps, such as Thank You (my testimony) and I’m Resilient (I bounce back y’all), that have “touched hearts” and “inspired” both youth and adults. God has blessed Kim with a new name for her new gospel rap ministry: K-Mor which stands for Kim-Messenger of rap. Her goal is to lyrically reach people of all ages and ethnical backgrounds and share the good news about God and her testimony of how He took her from “hard times and cold streets to smooth rhymes and hot beats”. K-Mor enjoys traveling to and fro sharing positive messages with others as well as spending time having fun with her talented and loving children (daughter Shaquaria and son Andre Jr.) and wonderful friends. You can find her in Houston, Texas, featured at youth events, musicals, outreach events, and wherever else God leads her. Kim has made a vow to God to continue to share the gift He has bestowed upon her to disciple those who are loss and encourage sisters and brothers all over the world for as long as God blesses her to do so.
